If you're not leveraging target couponing and rolling gift cards, you're missing out on significant savings. I'm confused as to why this small amount of items would normally cost $80, but my out-of-pocket expense was $45. Why pay full price when discounts are available? I also had these items shipped for free.

This week it’s a $15 gift card back when you spend $50 on household items. Pair that with digital coupons and roll any gift cards you may have and reduce your out of pocket expenses. See my receipt for details.

When both my kids were around 12-13 I started them out with a Greenlight debit card. Once they deemed themselves responsible I canceled it (they charge $5/mo) and added them to a credit card or two (free). I gave them the card to use. In May after my oldest graduated and had already turned 18 I told her to access her credit score to see where she was. We were both surprised by what we saw. I agree with a lot of things that Dave Ramsey says but not being worried about credit is not one. Unless we have money that doesn’t end, maintaining a good credit score is vital. I’m determined to do whatever I can so that my kids can have a better life than me. So for all of y’all who say let your child struggle, we can agree to disagree. I’m about exposure, teaching and coaching them but I also believe in them dealing with the consequences of their actions. When you know better you do better and naturally our children should benefit from us knowing and doing better. I got her here and it’s her job to maintain this. And if she isn’t responsible with credit she will have to deal with that too.

So if you want you can add your kids to a credit card that you have a good history on. You don’t even have to give them the card and they don’t even have to have been added for a long time. Once you add them that credit history becomes theirs.

Just stumbled upon this article this morning. The money dial is what this guy calls it. I totally agree and feel that most of us operate this way. The most important place where my money dial is placed is financially stability/security with travel/experiences and good food being my next highest priority. Where is your money dial??

For self-made millionaire Ramit Sethi, driving his old car allows him to "spend extravagantly" on other things. How to apply the same mindset to your finances.

Has anyone ever read this book? I’m enjoying it so much! I think my personal strategies are in line with these principles but I’m also learning and thinking so much. When I finish I’m going to drop a summary of what I gathered from this book but if you read it already let’s chat.

In 2021 I worked six months out of the year. This was how I stumbled upon time freedom. It was a familiar feeling though because during the summer of 2017 my job ended abruptly but I had a clause in my contract that said I would receive a one month notice so I was paid for 4 weeks over a six month period of time. That was one of the best summers ever!! I have been chasing this freedom ever since. I often ponder how I can afford to retire now but as long as I have some sort of autonomy over my work schedule I can continue to do what I’m doing because I enjoy my job and I’m pretty good at it.

In addition to time freedom, I’m just as determined to gain financial freedom. Financial freedom is the bridge to time freedom. Finances and making a dollar stretch are topics that I’m just as passionate about. But don’t be confused when I tell you I’m the person who will not buy mustard until it’s buy one get one free and splurge on a delicious dinner at the same time. We all have specific areas and things that we place value on and they will be different for different people. This page is a safe place to share, discuss, and learn all things financial so that we can have the life that we desire.
