BREAKING NEWS:
"An aircraft belonging to the Nigerian Air Force of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, type C130, was forced to land today, December 8, 2025, in Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso, following an 'in-flight emergency situation'; while it was operating in Burkinabe airspace. The military plane, it is specified, had on board '2 crew members and 9 passengers, all military personnel.'
An investigation immediately opened by the competent Burkinabe services made it possible to highlight 'the absence of authorization to fly over Burkinabe territory by this military aircraft.'
Therefore, the Confederation of Sahel States, in its communique, 'condemns with the utmost firmness this violation of its airspace and the sovereignty of its member states.'
Furthermore, faced with what it qualified as an 'inimical act carried out in contempt of international law and international rules of civil and/or military aviation,' General Goïta assured that measures are being taken to 'ensure the security of the confederal airspace, the sovereignty and territorial integrity of its member states, as well as the security of the populations of the AES Confederation.'
In concrete terms, the president of the Confederation announced that, on instructions from the Heads of State, 'the air and anti-aircraft defenses of the confederal space, placed on maximum alert, in accordance with the Declaration of the College of Heads of State dated December 22, 2024, have been authorized to neutralize any aircraft that violates the confederal space.'"
