Another Sneak Peak‼️

🙌 Hands-On Assessment Flow
Having a consistent routine for your hands-on assessment helps you move quickly and effectively.

When you follow the same flow each time, it becomes easy to notice even the smallest changes in your horse’s body.

Incorporating this into your weekly care routine allows you to spot swelling, heat, tightness, or discomfort before they grow into bigger issues.

The assessment pattern shown follows either the direction of hair growth or the natural
muscle fiber direction. This makes it easier for your hands to glide smoothly over the skin and pick up on subtle differences in the soft tissues.

During your flow, you may detect:
· Small scabs
· Ropey or band-like muscle fibers
· Areas of tightness or guarding
· Scar tissue
· Small cysts or lesions

These findings help you understand where your horse may need extra mobilization, bodywork, or
training support. Regular assessments keep you ahead of changes so you can maintain your horse’s comfort, performance, and overall well-being.

Why Checking Range of Motion Matters

Assessing your horse’s range of motion helps you spot stiffness, imbalance, or early signs of soreness. It improves performance, prevents injury, and ensures your horse moves freely and comfortably.

The Three Planes of Motion

Sagittal Plane (Forward & Backward) – Movements like stepping forward/back or flexing and extending joints.

Coronal Plane (Side to Side / Lateral) – Movements away from or across the body’s midline, like abducting/adducting a leg.

Transverse Plane (Rotation / Twisting) – Rotational movements, like circling a limb or stretching the neck toward the shoulder.

Here is a sneak peak of what's in my Upcoming Horse Training Manual!

Sagittal Plane- Body in Left and Right Halves- Forward and Backward Movements.

Coronal (Frontal) Plane - Body in Front and Back Halves. Side to Side Movements

Transverse Plane- Body in Top and Bottom Halves. Twisting Movements

This moment with Mareda will forever be one of my favorites. It marked a massive breakthrough for her, a turning point that told me she was finally ready to connect.
Until now, every time I stepped onto the mounting block, fear took over and she pulled away. But in this moment, I simply waited… held space… and let her choose. And then, with a every spiral in she lowered her guard, she stepped toward me. Her eyes said everything: “I’m ready.” It was the kind of quiet, powerful victory that stays with you forever.

Ever have that thing you want your horse to do willingly yet they always seem to have some tension about it? Like asking your significant other to do that th...

Flash back to 3 years ago! I was riding Ollie at Chesapeake Dressage Institute when a plane went over that was so loud it shakes the camera. Gkad he didn’t mind the noise. 😅

Ollie was so good keeping his composure and continuing his leg yielding exercise with this super loud plane going over.
