Dante Carr, the standout quarterback from Minersville Area High School, has officially committed to the University of Central Florida (UCF), marking a significant addition to the Knights' 2026 recruiting class.

Standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 215 pounds, Carr has been a dynamic force on the field. In the 2024 season, he amassed 1,757 passing yards with 22 touchdowns and added 1,182 rushing yards with 23 touchdowns, showcasing his dual-threat capabilities .

Carr's commitment comes after an official visit to UCF on May 30, where he engaged with head coach Scott Frost and quarterbacks coach McKenzie Milton. The Knights' coaching staff had shown consistent interest, with Milton previously traveling to Pennsylvania to observe Carr's workouts.

The Tri-County Youth Football League (TCYFL) recognized the 2025 recipients of its annual scholarship awards during a special event held on May 20.

The TCYFL, which includes 16 organizations spanning Carbon, Luzerne, Northumberland, and Schuylkill counties, awarded $100 scholarships to one senior football player from each of its member teams. To qualify, recipients must have participated in the league for a minimum of three years and completed four years of high school football. Honorees are selected for their leadership, sportsmanship, and dedication to their teams and communities.

“The TCYFL is more than just football—it’s about building character, accountability, and camaraderie,” said a league representative. “These young men exemplify what our league stands for both on and off the field.”

Student-athletes from nine of the 16 teams were present for a group photo, proudly representing their respective communities:
