Our visit at the National Art Gallery of The Bahamas over the summer was an immersive experience that left me in awe as we delved into the diverse mediums of captivating artworks.

Through his art, Roberts skillfully utilizes the island's environmental, ecological, and architectural remnants to shed light on the often overlooked practices of Black and Indigenous builders, spatial planners, and artists. Moreover, his creations serve as decolonial spaces, empowering artists within the postcolonial Bahamas.

What truly impressed me about the exhibition was its unique organization. Rather than following a traditional chronological format, Roberts curated the display based on his use of different media. This approach provided valuable insights into the environmental and ecological challenges faced by Caribbean communities in the wake of climate change. It was inspiring to witness how these communities creatively respond to these challenges, offering a glimpse into the future that awaits much of the world.

Can’t wait to have another opportunity to visit this place and get to meet the legendary one day ❤️

Here’s a picture of the golden hour after the rain and a short poem I wrote to appreciation this moment 🙃 (It’s been gloomy all day but it makes me happy to see the sunlight before this day ends 🥲)

In the wake of rain's gentle touch,
A rainbow appears, vibrant and lush.
As the sun bids the day adieu,
A rainbow sunset comes into view.

Colors painted across the sky,
A breathtaking sight, oh so high.
Hues of orange, pink, and gold,
A masterpiece to behold.

The clouds embrace the vibrant light,
As the day fades into the night.
A symphony of colors, ever bright,
Guiding me through the twilight.

In this magical merging of rain and sun,
A beauty that's second to none.
The world is transformed, for a moment, it seems,
And I find solace in nature's dreams.

🎨🖌️ Practice Makes Perfect: Overcoming My Weakness in Sketching Faces 🖼️🤔

Hey everyone! 👋🏼 Today, I wanted to share a personal journey I've embarked on: improving my sketching skills, specifically when it comes to drawing faces. 🎭✏️

For a while, sketching faces has been my weakness, but instead of giving up, I decided to embrace the challenge and commit to practicing regularly. 💪🏼📚

First, I acknowledged that improvement takes time and patience. I set realistic expectations, understanding that progress won't happen overnight. 🕒⏳

To start, I gathered resources like tutorials, books, and online classes to learn the fundamentals of facial anatomy, proportions, and shading techniques. 📚💻

Next, I dedicated a specific time each day to practice. Consistency is key! Whether it's quick sketches during coffee breaks or longer sessions, I made it a habit to pick up my sketchbook and draw faces regularly. ⏰📝

I also found it helpful to study different facial features individually. By focusing on eyes, noses, and mouths separately, I gained a better understanding of their shapes, details, and expressions. 👀👃👄

Another crucial aspect of my journey has been embracing mistakes. Instead of getting discouraged by imperfections, I learned to see them as stepping stones towards improvement. Each stroke brings me closer to my goal. 🖌️💡

Lastly, I sought feedback and guidance from fellow artists. Sharing my work with a supportive community not only boosted my confidence but also provided valuable insights and constructive criticism. 🤝🎨

Remember, the path to mastery is a process, and setbacks are opportunities for growth. By staying committed, practicing consistently, and embracing the learning curve, I'm gradually seeing improvements in my sketches. 📈🎉

Story time!!! 📖

When I started taking art seriously, it became an incredible outlet to express my thoughts and emotions. Today, I want to share two of my earliest artworks that hold immense significance in my journey towards managing anxiety and finding inner peace.

My therapist suggested visualizing an item to help me compartmentalize what truly matters and what doesn't. I chose a vase as a symbol of this concept, and in creating a visual representation, I crafted two vases. One represents the important aspects of my life, while the other holds the chaos and worries that often consume my mind.

Art has become an essential tool in my healing process, allowing me to express emotions, explore my thoughts, and find solace in creativity. It serves as a channel for self-reflection and a means to externalize the internal struggles I face.
