Vangelis Vrachnos Quartet - Astrografia (PKmusik)

Σε τούτο το κουαρτέτο, μόλις διαβάζει κανείς τα ονόματα, ανακαλεί την περίπτωση των Yako Trio. Κι αυτό γιατί πρόκειται για τους Βαγγέλη Βραχνό (double bass), James Wylie (alto sax, kamancheh) και Γιώργο Κλούντζο (drums) που τους συναντούσαμε εκεί, ενώ στην “Astrografia” βρίσκουν τον Θωμά Μελετέα (oud) προς επίρρωση της παραδοσιακής καταβύθισης. Κι ενώ στην αρχική εντύπωση φαίνεται το αναπτυξιακό βάρος να δίνεται όντως στο παραδοσιακό κομμάτι, παρά στην contemporary jazz, στις τρεις τελευταίες συνθέσεις κατορθώνουν να μη δεσπόζει το ένα κομμάτι έναντι του άλλου, συγκεράζοντας τελικά ασκήσεις με ρυθμό αλλά και αξιόλογες συνθετικές ιδέες (“Moonrise”).
