A successful business involves making the right choices.
I probably got one wrong when I spent $10,000 hiring a company to help build my brand.
Maybe I expected too much for $10,000. In any case, the result was two articles published in USA Today. I’ll post the links below so you can join the other 10 people who read them.
The company is Pathos Communications. They seemed like nice people. They didn’t get rich, and I didn’t get famous. I think it’s fair to say we were both disappointed.
So, rather than cry over my $10,000, I asked AI:
“What could I have done with $10,000 and actually had some fun?”
Apparently, quite a lot:
🎰 Four or five Vegas weekends — nice hotels, shows, steak dinners, comedy clubs and gambling. At least I’d get free drinks while losing my money.
🍽️ 100 terrific $100 dinners — almost two great dinners every week for a year.
🎭 Fantastic seats to 20–30 concerts, Broadway shows or comedy performances.
⚾ Several trips to New York with premium Yankees tickets, airfare and hotels.
🚗 Put $10,000 toward a convertible or some completely unnecessary fun car.
🛳️ Take five $2,000 mini-vacations — cruises, resorts and long weekends.
🥩 Have a $200 steak dinner for two every month for more than three years.
Or my personal favorite:
🗽 Have one ridiculous long weekend in New York. Business-class airfare, a great Manhattan hotel, Broadway shows, terrific restaurants, and Yankees tickets.
Would any of those have built my brand?
Probably not.
But I’m pretty sure they would have built some great memories.
Lesson learned.
And if anyone needs me, I’ll be checking Yankees tickets and hotel rates. 😂
