After a couple of days staying at an RV park in Whitehorse, Yukon to resupply, we departed to begin making our way up to Kluane Lake and the Destruction Bay Area where we had planned to Boondock for a couple of days.

Along the way, we made a quick stop in Haines Junction, and when I saw how beautiful it was, I had to snap a photo of our rig with the mountains beyond.

After staying for several days “no man’s land“, Boondocking between Whitehorse and Skagway, Alaska we went into Whitehorse to resupply, do laundry, etc. That meant we had a stay at an RV park.

We stayed at pioneer RV Park, located right on the Alaska highway in Whitehorse, Yukon. I haven’t found any social media for them. But, they had laundry, full hook ups, and even a pet wash that we definitely took advantage of.

We left Liard Hot Springs in July, 2023 and continued north into the Yukon. Our first spot in the Yukon would be here along this peaceful river.

This was a beautiful spot with our friends It was the most picturesque place surrounded by mountains, right along this river with wildflowers blooming all around and birds flying around everywhere. A little later that evening we would come to realize why they were so many birds. They were there to eat the 100 trillion mosquitoes that called this spot home.

With all of our windows closed, and seemingly everything sealed up in the RV, we still ended up with hundreds of mosquitoes inside the camper. It was pretty brutal. But, this spot itself was beautiful and peaceful.

This is the campground at Liard Hot Springs in Northern British Columbia. Although not technically boondocking because we WERE at a campground, there are no hookups here. So it basically was boondocking.

We really did enjoy our stay here. BUT, when we were there they were having a major heat wave with temps well into the 90s. AND they have very limited generator hours with only 3 hours in the morning and 2 in the evening. That meant we could not run our AC hardly at all and the camper was SUPER hot. Also the 2 generator times were not really enough to keep our batteries charged. So it was tough!

But Liard Hot Springs itself was great. As hot as it was in the RV we felt like we had to go to the hot springs just to cool off. 🤣

Boondocking way out in the middle of the wilderness in northern British Columbia. That’s where we spent our July 4 in 2023. This beautiful Boondocking spot was way out in the middle of nowhere, alongside a river.

We spent several days here and despite it being so far north, the temperature soared into the 90s. So it was a little tough as we had to run the generator constantly in order to keep our rig cool as we had no shade.

Photo taken in some random pull out on the Alaska highway in 2023. That is something that we noticed on the drive. There were so many of these pull out sections where you could just stop for the night, and some of them had some pretty epic views.

This particular spot was not one that we stayed at. But, it had some great long range Mountain views. So, we decided to pull over and just enjoy the scenery for a bit before continuing on.

After arriving to mile zero on the Alaska Highway in Dawson Creek, BC, we continued on into the wilderness of British Columbia, where we would Boondock out in the middle of nowhere with our friends .

this spot was just a quick one night stay as we continued north towards Liard Hot Springs. We would have several other Boondocking spots along the way to Alaska. Some, with some incredible views. That was one thing I noticed on this trip up to Alaska…The Boondocking spots were everywhere.

It was July 2, 2023. We had departed Southern California that had been home for several months on June 1, 2023 and began our journey up to Alaska. Exactly one month and one day later we arrived to mile 0 here on the Alcan in Dawson Creek.

if you have ever considered even slightly, making the drive to Alaska…Absolutely do it! feel free to ask us all the questions you have. It was most definitely the adventure of a lifetime. We are looking forward to making that trek again.

Sometimes, you just take what you can get. After leaving Jasper, we made our way north to Grande Prairie, Alberta. This is where we would resupply at the local Costco to continue our trip north.

We ended up staying here in the parking lot of the casino. They allow people to Boondock here so it was a great place to stay for a couple of days to have time to resupply before continuing north to Alaska.

This was it. For years, I had a goal of snapping a photo of our rig with huge snow capped mountains beyond it. When we arrived to Athabasca glacier, I knew immediately this was the spot I would get my photo.

There is a large parking area across from the glacier where you can pay to park your camper. We stayed here for several days. These beautiful mountains were our view every time we opened our door.

We ended up making some friends here(Jian and Lin) that we would reconnect with all the way up to and from Alaska.
