“Two tracks in three mixes here from Norway’s Karoline Hegrenes, a purveyor of “dubby echoes and synthetic textures channelled into minimalist techno”. Opener ‘Pip-Pip Trance’ is almost self-explanatory, a bleepy, propulsive affair that reminds yours truly of 90s Sundays slumped in front of ‘X-Mix’ videos (trippy visuals for rave-fried brains), while ‘Tomta Mi, Ikkie Di’ comes on like a Balearic Yellow Magic Orchestra. So far, so pleasant - but then there’s the Double Trouble Remix, which reworks the latter into something altogether sultrier, groovier and really rather irresistible, made up mostly of crisp but understated beats, warm bass, ethereal vox and shimmering FX.”
