We are so privileged to introduce you to our most recent StoryLight Narrator, the Tony®-nominated Broadway Producer and three-time Emmy® nominee, Mia Moravis! Mia's voice work originated with her college radio days, and onto PBS programming and audio theatre. She says, "Narrating Oscar Wilde's The Devoted Friend for Story Light is truly a highlight of my career, and am ever grateful to Gail and Justin for this glorious opportunity." ✨🎙📖✨Here is a little bit more about Mia:

A Favorite childhood story? When I was a young girl in Scotland, my parents gave to me two gorgeous volumes. One was Andersen's Fairy Tales and one was Grimms' Fairy Tales and I read them over and over. Two Hans Christian Andersen favorites are The Little Match Girl and The Tinderbox. Of the Brothers Grimm, I loved The Fisherman and His Wife and The Robber Bridegroom. I also adored a wee book called, Anne Likes Red.

Who did you read this one with? I read alone most of the time; it was my solace! I have an older brother who made a career of teasing me, but he left me alone when I was reading!

A Favorite storybook character? I loved the Hergé cartoon books, The Adventures of Tintin.
Why? Tintin was a reporter, which I thought was so cool, and he and his dog, Snowy, just went everywhere and did everything for a story! He was a teenager, and really strong and unafraid. There was always a sense of peril underlying the stories. As a young girl, I couldn't put my finger on it, and was a tad wary, but still read every single Tintin book I could get my hands on!

A favorite shelter-in-place activity? Cooking new recipes while listening to audiobooks. There's this narrator, Gail Shalan, and I am listening to everything she's done, haha! Have also done the same with David Sedaris, Maya Angelou, Toni Morrison, and various classic literature available.

We are delighted to bring you the final installment of The Boxcar Children and introduce our fantastic narrator for this story!

Let’s MEET THE NARRATOR:

Name, Location

Alex Picard, Concord NH

A Favorite childhood story?

Boy... starting with the tough questions! The Ordinary Princess, The Westing Game, A Wrinkle In Time - Top 3.

Who did you read this one with?

A Wrinkle in Time was read aloud in my 3rd grade classroom, the other two I read to myself. I was a very proud Book Nerd.

A Favorite storybook character?

I HAVE SO MANY! I'm going to go with Turtle, from the Westing Game.

Why?

She is so savvy, smart, wise, vulnerable, brave, fun, underestimated, tough, gentle, and boy I envied her s***k - plus she wore her hair in two long braids - like I used to.

A favorite shelter-in-place activity?

We keep track of every book we read. Last year my two girls read 242 books! We also watched the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe TWICE, once in release order, once in chronological order - that was a blast. And we bake cookies... lots of cookies.

We are currently seeking to expand our post-production team at StoryLight— looking for audio engineers who are interested in editing, mastering or/and (most importantly) creating the soundscapes that support our favorite classic stories.

This, like all of StoryLight, is a volunteer opportunity. We will take on engineers for a one-off story creation or multiple stories depending on your interest and availability.

We are so grateful to the creative folks who have helped us offer 15 beloved classics in audio podcast form to the world for free. We want to keep making great work and are therefore looking for help with this part of our show.
