We are so privileged to introduce you to our most recent StoryLight Narrator, the Tony®-nominated Broadway Producer and three-time Emmy® nominee, Mia Moravis! Mia's voice work originated with her college radio days, and onto PBS programming and audio theatre. She says, "Narrating Oscar Wilde's The Devoted Friend for Story Light is truly a highlight of my career, and am ever grateful to Gail and Justin for this glorious opportunity." ✨🎙📖✨Here is a little bit more about Mia:
A Favorite childhood story? When I was a young girl in Scotland, my parents gave to me two gorgeous volumes. One was Andersen's Fairy Tales and one was Grimms' Fairy Tales and I read them over and over. Two Hans Christian Andersen favorites are The Little Match Girl and The Tinderbox. Of the Brothers Grimm, I loved The Fisherman and His Wife and The Robber Bridegroom. I also adored a wee book called, Anne Likes Red.
Who did you read this one with? I read alone most of the time; it was my solace! I have an older brother who made a career of teasing me, but he left me alone when I was reading!
A Favorite storybook character? I loved the Hergé cartoon books, The Adventures of Tintin.
Why? Tintin was a reporter, which I thought was so cool, and he and his dog, Snowy, just went everywhere and did everything for a story! He was a teenager, and really strong and unafraid. There was always a sense of peril underlying the stories. As a young girl, I couldn't put my finger on it, and was a tad wary, but still read every single Tintin book I could get my hands on!
A favorite shelter-in-place activity? Cooking new recipes while listening to audiobooks. There's this narrator, Gail Shalan, and I am listening to everything she's done, haha! Have also done the same with David Sedaris, Maya Angelou, Toni Morrison, and various classic literature available.
