The Directorate of Educational Research & Training, (DERT) Meghalaya, Shillong invites
application from Eligible Candidates for National Means-cum- Merit Scholarship (NMMS)
Examination for Class VIII for the year 2026 which will be held on the 6
th December,2025 (Saturday)
to select 231 students as per the State Quota allotted by Ministry of Education, Government of India, New Delhi.
Eligibility Criteria: The Students currently studying in Class VIII of the Academic Year 2025 in the State Government, Government Aided and Local Body Schools only. The Students should have scored atleast 55% i.e. for General Category and 50% for SC/ST in Class VII Promotion Examination 2024. The Students studying in Kendriya Vidyalayas, Jawahar Navodayas, Residential Schools run by
Central and State Government and students studying in Private Schools are Not Eligible for
Scholarship under the Scheme. The Parental Annual Income from all sources should not exceed `3, 50,000/- (Rupees Three
Lakh Fifty Thousand) only. The Scholarship is provided to the students studying as Regular Students in Class IX in Government, Government- Aided and Local Body Schools which are renewed till Class XII subject to fulfilment
of certain terms and conditions of the Scheme. The awardees must obtain a minimum of 60% marks in
class X (relaxable by 5% for SC/ST) Examination or equivalent Examination for continuation of the
Scholarship at Higher Secondary Stage. Selected Candidates will be awarded Scholarship of `12,000 per annum by Ministry of Education and
the Selected Candidates will have to apply On-line through NSP, NMMS Portal.
