Tragedy in Udhampur: CRPF Vehicle Falls Into Gorge, 2 Dead, 12 Injured

A tragic road accident occurred in the Basantgarh area of Udhampur district on Thursday, claiming the lives of two CRPF personnel and injuring 12 others. The incident took place near Kandva on the Kandva-Basantgarh road when a CRPF vehicle skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge.

According to Additional SP Udhampur, Sandeep Bhat, the vehicle was carrying CRPF personnel when the mishap occurred. Police teams and local residents quickly launched a rescue operation, pulling the injured from the wreckage. The injured were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.

Two soldiers were injured in a suspected mine blast in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district, officials said on Friday.
They said the blast took place along the Line of Control (LoC) in Trehgam at around 3 am when soldiers were patrolling in the area.
“A Havaldar and a Naik of Army’s 19 Sikh were injured in the blast, and both the injured were admitted to hospital in Kupwara,” officials said, adding that now the condition of both is stated to be stable.
