We’ve been sharing snippets from our short doc Making a Monster — featuring Taylor O’moore Mcclelland, aka The Monster — a former Strongman competitor who’s faced lifelong battles with depression and social anxiety.

It’s a raw, powerful “don’t judge a book by its cover” story that cuts to the heart of Australia’s mental health crisis.

This week, we’re turning the camera around — to highlight the amazing, diverse crew and community behind the scenes. Filmmaking is never a solo act. It takes a village, and we’re lucky to have one right here in the Northern Rivers. Huge shoutout to our friends at — the legends at Burleigh’s finest rental house — whose support shows up in every frame.

We’re now looking for a values-aligned partner to help bring this story across the finish line. If you (or someone you know) is passionate about mental health and storytelling that makes an impact — we’d love to talk.

You never know what’s going on inside someone else’s head, no matter what they look like on the outside. And while we may tell our kids « not to judge a book by its cover », we know it happens all the time, and often with devestating consequences.

We’ve been working on a short documentary with Taylor O’moore Mcclelland—aka The Monster—a former Strongman competitor who has been battling lifelong depression, social anxiety, and suicidal thoughts. At first glance you might think you’ve got him pegged, but we promise, you have no idea what it’s like inside his head.

We’re excited to share this short sizzle reel, which provides just a glimpse into Taylor’s world. We’re also incredibly proud that our team can devote time and resources to stories like this—and deeply grateful to the Northern Rivers filmmaking community, especially Cine2481, for backing this vision.

We’re now looking for a values-aligned organisation or individual to partner with us in the final stages—someone who shares our commitment to addressing the mental health crisis and helping this story reach those who need to see it most.

Mental health doesn’t always look the way you expect.

We’ve been working on a short documentary with Taylor O’moore Mcclelland—aka The Monster—a 6’4 », 145kg former World’s Strongest Man competitor, covered in tattoos and battling lifelong depression, social anxiety, and suicidal thoughts.

This is a quick glimpse from a scene we shot at the IGA in Byron Bay, using a Double Dolly technique (shout out to Spike Lee) to recreate the feeling of dissociation Taylor experiences during a panic attack.

We’re proud to be telling stories like this—raw, real, and necessary—and grateful for the support of our amazing Northern Rivers filmmaking community, especially Cine2481.

Now, we’re looking for the right partner—someone who’s serious about tackling the mental health crisis—to help us bring this to a wider audience.

Federal Court in Cairns delivered a disappointing decision in a historic case led by Torres Strait Islander Elders Uncle Pabai and Uncle Paul, who took the Australian Government to court for climate inaction.

The Court’s decison - that our Government does not owe a duty of care to protect communities from the impacts of climate change or even to fund adaptation measures, despite acknowledging that the Commonwealth « did not engage with or give real or genuine consideration to the best available science » when setting climate policy - is a tragic missed opportunity that will resonate far and wide.

This decison does nothing to diminish the incredible bravery and hard work undertaken over years by the Uncles and the Grata Fund legal team, who deserve our gratitude for attempting to right this injustice.

We were honoured to support their fight through a short film made with the Uncles and the Grata Fund legal team. If this decision has you feeling down, like we all do today, I urge you to watch the film and draw inspiration from their commitment to fight on.

We’re inspired by the powerful climate leadership of First Nations people and the tireless support of advocates like Grata.

At 2pm on Tuesday 15 July the Australian Federal Court in Cairns will hand down its decision in a landmark case led by Torres Strait Islander men Uncle Pabai and Uncle Paul, who are accusing the Australian Government of climate negligence. This case has the potential to force and bind the Australian Government to finally and for the first time take meaningful action against human-made climate change.

We at Green Thumb Media have been lucky enough to play a very small role in this case through a short film that we made with the Uncles and their legal team from the Grata Fund earlier this year.

We continually inspired and humbled by the work being done to protect our climate by First Nations People here in Australia and across the globe, as well as by the amazing and tireless work of lawyers like those at Grata to support them. We thank them for their hard work and for letting us be a part of the movement they’re leading.

Podcasts really weren’t something that was on our radar 24 months ago. Personally, the team (except Cyril) all enjoys them, but it just wasn’t something we got asked for by clients. That has changed radically over the past two years to the point where easily 25% of our client work is now in podcasts, particularly pods with a strong video element.
Obviously podcasts have grown massively in popularity all over the world during that time, and maybe that accounts for the uptick in interest. But regardless of the reason, I’m so excited to have expanded Green Thumb Media’s offering to include podcasting and we have some really, really exciting stuff in the pipeline at the moment, so watch this space.
If you think a podcast might be right for your organisation, give us a shout.... just not directly into the mic. (Dad joke)

We at Green Thumb Media are thrilled to collaborate with Flow Power to showcase their impactful partnerships in the renewable energy sector. Filmed at the New England Solar Farm, the largest solar farm in New South Wales, this project generates enough clean energy to power over 300,000 homes annually. 🌱 Through our work with Flow Power, we’ve had the privilege of sharing the inspiring stories behind their collaborations with ACEN, BaptistCare, and Asahi—all driving the shift toward a more sustainable energy system.
We’re proud to be part of this transformative project, which not only powers homes but also strengthens Australia’s commitment to a low-carbon future.

Larry Bird would famously quit drinking beer just in time for the each year. Imagine how many more championships he could have won if had existed in the 1980s! We may not be winning any basketball games at Green Thumb, but thanks to this slab from our pals over at Heaps Normal, we’re winning at life. Thanks Legends!

Human Rights Watch publication

Earlier this year, we flew, drove and sailed to one of the most remote and isolated locations in the world to tell a story about how the climate crisis is already reshaping daily life. Green Thumb Media is honoured to share this short film about Walande in the Solomon Islands, where thousands of people have been battling against the impacts of climate change for two decades.

The Climate Crisis is a Human Crisis.
From Los Angeles to the Solomon Islands and beyond, we are seeing the effects of climate change now. What happens when people lose their homes and communities? A climate migration crisis. Our most recent film, shot in the Solomon Islands earlier this year, explores the ways in which climate change is already displacing people, disrupting lives, and creating a new generation of refugees.
