The Jeremy Brett Sherlock Holmes Podcast Greetings, friends and colleagues. Spanning 36 episodes and 5 movies, producer Michael Cox created a Sherlockian experience like no other.

And welcome to The Jeremy Brett Sherlock Holmes Podcast page – devoted to revisiting and honoring the world’s greatest portrayal of the world’s greatest detective. From 1984 to 1994, Granada Television produced what is arguably the best (and most complete) depiction of legendary detective’s Adventures, Memoirs, Case-Books and many Returns. This podcast will examine that timeless series with a specific eye on Jeremy Brett in the role he was destined to immortalize.

Happy Birthday to Fiona Shaw aka Miss Morrison from The Crooked Man who turns 67. Performing in one of the earlier roles in her career, she was fantastic. It is no surprise to anyone who saw her that she was going to go on to great things, especially to Granada who once again spotted a highly talented actor very early in their career. We hope she has a wonderful day!

As well as the individuals who worked on the show, we also celebrate the birthdays of the episode, and today is the 39th birthday of "The Empty House." The first episode of The Return series, it was the literal return of Jeremy Brett to his role as Sherlock Holmes, but with a new Watson, as the sublime Edward Hardwicke took on his role, and a new Producer, with June Wyndham-Davies taking on the role. A lot had changed over the period of time between The Final Problem and this, but the one constant in a changing age was the quality product Granada were producing.

A very Happy 89th Birthday goes to TV and acting legend, Richard Wilson, who played Duncan Ross in The Red-Headed League. We celebrate an incredible age reached by such an icon of British TV, who's managed to keep both feet out of the grave thus far. We're so happy he's still around and working, though we're fairly sure, from our small interactions with him, that he doesn't believe it.

Today is the birthday of the late, great, Raymond Adamson, and he would be turning 105 years of age. Though a small role at the beginning of The Hound of the Baskervilles, as Sir Charles Baskerville, it is a vital role and one of his last credited roles. An actor of gravitas and of supreme talent and experience, we acknowledge and remember this great man today.

Today's Birthday celebration is for the beautiful and talented Jenny Seagrove, Mary Morstan in The Sign of Four. A friend of the show, we released her interview a few years ago now during our ocverage of her episode. You can listen to it here:

She may not have married Dr Watson, as in the book, but she still engaged and enthralled our favourite duo, as well as the viewers, with one of the most well remembered guest roles in the series.

For those enjoying the BrettCon panels we are uploading, we still have a bevy of left over merchandise from the event, available to purchase on our Etsy store.

You can buy them in "packs" which include all of our merch in one bundle, or individually, so if you were only after a poster or a programme or a coin, these are now available to purchase.

We also have some leftover signed photos from the event, from some (not all) of our guests. Again, these are only limited in stock and some have already sold out so if you're unsure, then get them now.

Here is a link to our store, and happy Brettcon shopping!

As a reminder, as well as the new Panels we are putting up from Brettcon, and will continue to post in the coming weeks, we previously put one of the Panels up on our YouTube page and on our Podcast feed back in December.

This was the Adventures panel, which brought together 4 of the actors from the original series. Betsy Brantley (The Dancing Men), Alison Skilbeck (The Naval Treaty), Michael Carter (A Scandal in Bohemia), and Matthew Solon (The Norwood Builder) discussed their work on the Granada series and their time with Jeremy Brett and David Burke. So, in case you missed it the first time, here is the links again for another Brettcon treat.

Today we remember Sonny Caldinez, on what would have been his 93rd Birthday. Sonny will be remembered for being in Wisteria Lodge, and having the, somewhat slow, chase with Dr Watson. Sonny passed away last year, but lived an eclectic and fascinating life. As well as being an actor in Sherlock Holmes, Indiana Jones, James Bond, Doctor Who and more, he was also a trained professional wrestler. So, here's to you Sonny, a man of many talents.

We also remember Casting Director James Bain on the occasion of his 70th birthday, sadly taken from us too soon. Unfortunately, we couldn't trace a picture of him to include in this post, but nevertheless we wanted to celebrate his outstanding contribution as he cast many of the last ever episodes of the series, superbly. Thank you James!
