I’m not ready for Christmas yet. I’m still in denial that it’s even December already. Can we go back to warm summer days, plants in bloom, and daylight that stays till it’s late?

There’s been a lot of loss these past few months. The loss of Milo, the first cat I raised from when he was a kitten. Burt and Maddie (our donkeys), the first two “farm” animals my parents bought. My trust in the school system when a “professional” breached confidentiality and the school system continually denied services. My past selves, pre-chronic illness, as I grieve the loss of things I used to do and not currently having more good days than bad. My sense of justice, seeing the way humans are treating each other and taking away rights.

It’s been really hard coping with these losses and trying to stay afloat lately. My mental health has definitely been suffering. It’s been hard to stay positive and keep finding the joy.

But, I’m still trying. Each time the sunset bathes the sky in color, each time my (somewhat neglected) plants continue to flower or bloom, or each time the moon rises and the stars shine; all these things remind me of the beauty in life. Each family member or friend who reaches out or sends a meme, saying “saw this and thought of you!” Each time my child comes over for a hug or to show me something interesting. Each time I read a story of strangers showing kindness or seeing people connect over the simple act of being human. These seemingly small moments keep me going, reminding me that it’s ok to fall apart AND appreciate the beauty in life. That it’s ok to not be ok, AND still recognize the good. That two things can be true at once. That every time I see an act of kindness, I’m retraining my brain to show that things will be ok ❤️

Despite it all, I’m still seeking mementos of joy

Another incredible October sunrise 💕 I love it when the light is soft on cold mornings and the muted blues and pinks quietly greet the day.

Love these quiet, chilly mornings. The light is so soft and the colors are subdued.

I love the way these colors capture my attention. Bold, bright, and vibrant. Like they’ve bottled the essence of summer as they’ve soaked every last drop of sun and warmth before cooler weather arrives. Drying them is the only way to try to capture their color before they fade to brown. These flowers are the stars of one of the many projects I finished this weekend… more photos to come soon 🍁🎃

✨Among the Clouds ☁️

Milo, our barncat, is absolutely fearless. I’ve seen him throw snakes in the air, take on a flock of Magpies, and climb to the top of a barn.

It’s time for a new beginning. A lot has happened in the past four years, and as I re-read my old posts, it’s crazy to see how many things have changed. And yet, one thing is constant: I’m still trying to find joy in everyday moments.

Just like this sunrise, I’m ready for a beautiful new beginning. I plan on using my account to share my photography, arts, and crafts, with random life moments sprinkled in ✨

Please re-join me on my journey of discovering joy in everyday moments 💕
