SHREVEPORT POLICE UNVEILS $1 MILLION MOBILE COMMAND CENTER TO BOOST SAFETY

Shreveport, La. — The Shreveport Police Department officially unveiled its new $1 million mobile command center during a ribbon-cutting ceremony held Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at Cedar Grove Park.

The state-of-the-art 2025 model, purchased through the 2021 Bond, replaces SPD’s 1995 command center, which had been in service for 30 years. The new unit took more than a year to build and is designed to provide advanced technology and upgraded resources for officers in the field.

According to SPD officials, the mobile command center will strengthen the department’s ability to respond to emergencies, large-scale incidents, and community events with greater efficiency.

The unveiling marked what city leaders described as a significant step forward in equipping the police force with modern tools to protect and serve the Shreveport community.

NOT EVERYONE’S LAUGHING: SOME COOPER ROAD RESIDENTS FED UP WITH FREE-ROAMING HORSES

SHREVEPORT, La — While many in a Cooper Road community find humor in the herd of horses that regularly roam the neighborhood, not everyone is amused.

One frustrated resident didn’t hold back after seeing Love Shreveport-Bossier video this morning: “I’m sick of them horses, man,” she said. “They get into my trash, knock it over, and leave a mess all over the yard. The owner shouldn’t just let them walk around like this.”

The horses, which have been spotted grazing freely, blocking walkways, and going through garbage cans, have become a familiar—though polarizing—presence in the area. While some residents view the visits as harmless and even entertaining, others say the repeated mess and lack of control are a growing nuisance.

As the horses continue their unbothered strolls through the community, some neighbors are calling for accountability and action, saying it’s time for the owner to rein them in—literally.
