The spazashop industry is worth R6 billion Rand annually. Most of the money is shipped out of South Africa. Some of this spazashops sell fake products that are untaxed.
Therefore the Spaza Shop industry should do as the Taxi industry, and restrict foreign national ownership, in the same way that Africans are not permitted to run Spazashops in India or Pakistan or China.
Moreover, the spazashop industry should be backed by black owned backyard factories and bakeries, which will make us to have the producing power. So that we don't stock the merchandise from white monopoly capital in the name of black empowerment.
Having locally black owned spazashops is a fruitless exercise if we don't produce the products we retail. We just become mere managers of white wealth.
