How Can I Love My Spouse
When I Don’t Like Them?

With Janis Sharpe
M.S., LMFT

Unfortunately, life stressors can cause us to lose our ability to like each other in a marriage.

We can become more like roommates than a thriving, connected couple. Sometimes, both have gotten out of the habit of appreciating each other and spending meaningful time together.

Join me and Janis Sharpe. M.S., LMFT as we have an authentic conversation about how to love your spouse when you don’t like them.

Whether you are going through a rough patch or are in a valley, this podcast is for you.

Listen in as we talk about:

• How can I begin to start liking my spouse again?

• How can I regain focus of how to love my spouse well?

• How can I look for the truths that are positive in our relationship?

• What do I do if I feel unappreciated, unseen or unheard?

• How can I cope with the false beliefs that cloud my thoughts?

• How can I stay on guard regarding the lies the enemy sends my way?

• It’s not what we say but how we say things that matter and make a difference

• Help for those in abuse, addiction, lack of safety, infidelity, or betrayal.

• How to not play the blame game and break bad habits.

Click below to listen to this helpful podcast. Big thanks to Janis for her insight and wisdom.

P.S. Try inserting your name in this beloved scripture as it will help reframe your thoughts
and soften your heart to love your spouse and others well:

____________ is patient. ____________ is kind. ____________ does not envy.
____________ does not boast. ____________ is not proud. ____________ does not dishonor others.
____________ is not self-seeking. ____________ is not easily angered. ____________ keeps no record of wrongs.
____________ does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
____________ always, protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

1 Corinth. 13:4 – 7

Love is the answer. ❤️

It’s my 57th birthday today.

Gordy Guest and I have been so thankful to be able to travel a lot this year.

Yet, last weekend in Nashville and this weekend in Chicago while we were enjoying life, eating, shopping, and seeing sights, we’d see the devastation pop up on the news.

It honestly felt (and still feels surreal) that our life has gone on so easily while so many people, millions of people, have had their lives changed forever.

The hurricane damage is horrific. Entire cities and communities may never return to what they were. Lives, livelihood and more have been lost.

It’s hard to look at these photos of devastation juxtaposed with our travel ease.

And so, I’d like to do some good on my birthday.

Would you consider making a donation to Samaritan’s Purse?

Samaritan’s Purse is responding to both Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton, with multiple disaster relief bases in North Carolina and Florida.

This evangelical Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world.

Since 1970, Samaritan’s Purse has helped meet needs of people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine with the purpose of sharing God’s love through His Son, Jesus Christ. The organization serves the Church worldwide to promote the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.

I’d love to make a difference on my birthday.

Any donation from you will be a blessing. Thank you!

Hello!

Happy weekend!

After a brief recording hiatus, thanks to having two new granddaughters, I’m excited to share a NEW podcast episode on Empty Nest Guests.

Being Real > Being Perfect
with Justin Davis

Are you tired of trying to be someone you’re not?

Many of us spend a lot of energy, especially at church, trying to hide the fact that we’re struggling.

We can’t share our problems, our sadness, our hurts and hangups and our sense of distance from God.

In his book Being Real > Being Perfect, Justin Davis reminds us that God doesn’t heal what we don’t admit is broken. As he vulnerably shares his own story of redemption, Justin helps us understand:

🎙️ - Why being real with ourselves, God, and others leads to peace and hope

🎙️ - How faking perfection robs us of the transformative power of grace

🎙️ - What the Bible says about insecurity and identity

🎙️ - Step-by-step ways to overcome our fear of being vulnerable

If you’re tired of trying to prove yourself, if you’re tired of wondering where the real “you” went, if you’re tired of knowing information but not experiencing transformation, discover the vibrant spiritual life you long for as you embrace the truth that being real is greater than you can imagine.

I hope you are blessed big-time by our conversation.

“A river is victoriously, persistent, it overcomes all barriers. For a while, it goes steadily on its course then it comes to an obstacle and for a while it is baulked, but it soon makes a pathway around the obstacle.

The river will drop out of sight for miles, and then again emerge again, broader, and grander than ever.

Keep paying attention to the Source, and God will either take you around the obstacle or remove it. The river of the Spirit of God overcomes all obstacles.

Never fix your eyes on the obstacle or on the difficulty. The obstacle is a matter of indifference to the river, which will flow steadily through you if you remember to keep right at the Source.”

This reading from My Utmost for His Highest blessed me today.

I hope it encourages you, especially if you are facing any obstacles.

Keep paying attention to The Source and the river will continually flow steadily through you.

“…Jesus stood and shouted to the crowds, “Anyone who is thirsty may come to me. Anyone who believes in me may come and drink. For the Scriptures declare, rivers of living water will flow from his heart.”
‭‭John‬ ‭7‬:‭37‬-‭38‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Mothers & Daughters, I have a special podcast to share with you.

I recorded “What Mothers & Daughters Need From Each Other - & What Can We Offer?”

Happy Today!

My friends Laura Dennis and Melanie Prather Studer have the most amazing tips, resources, newsletter, website and more!

Check out their Next Phase Parenting site here:

Today, from their newsletter, I was encouraged to have a summer “teacup list” - small things I’d like to do this summer and, thanks to their Father’s Day resource ideas, I found the perfect gift for Gordy.

Also, they shared The 75 Best Sports Movies to Watch.
You can click here to see that list.
