A while back, in our meditation group, one of my co-breathers mentioned that she had learned that she had to fill her own cup before she could fill other people’s cups, which is a great way to think about how human energy is transferred.

Then this week I listened to an episode from the podcast and her guest, talked about her journey with cancer and I had an “aha” moment. We are constantly reminding women to fill their own cups because we don’t ever let anyone else fill our own! I always tell people I’m fine but am I? And why are we not capable of accepting help? In my case, a lot of it is not wanting to bother others and possibly not thinking I’m worth being helped so this is a call to action to all women out there!

Next time someone offers to help, just say yes no matter how uncomfortable it feels. It will be good for you and good for the person helping because a world where we all feel well supported and rested is how we create the community we all so badly need right now. ❤️

Check out the episode by going to the link in her bio.

Note: I chose buckets to represent cups for this one 😉

This week and will be talking about my love of control. As I listened to her break down my behaviour, she made me realise that when we get “triggered” it’s because we don’t yet understand something about ourselves.

Understanding our love of control as a race is a good place to start when trying to work our way through the hard stuff. Remember to always be kind to yourselves. ❤️

In life, we're taught to look up to others and to root for a team we love but no one ever tells us to root for ourselves!!!

As the new year keeps moving along, and we transition from being pumped about resolutions and no longer feeling the "this year will different" feeling, here is a reminder to friggin cheer yourself on! And do whatever it takes so you get out of bed in the morning to workout. Even if it's just for 5 minutes.

With the New Year being here, we often set ideals for ourselves that have to do with how we look. "I'm going to lose weight. I have to go to the gym. I need to stop drinking."

It really got me thinking about what motivates most things we do and let's face it, it usually has to do with look good and never is focused on how we feel. Even if I'm working out non-stop or watching what I eat, I'm often not doing it for the right reasons. I'm doing it for external and societal approval...

So for 2024 I suggest this: let's check in with ourselves with the purpose of being kind to ourselves. Am I tired? Do I feel anxious? Is someone around me making me feel uneasy? Is there a situation I'm currently in that makes me feel like s**t? And if we do work out and eat healthy, let's do it cause we want to be powerful when we wake-up in the morning and we want our bodies to be strong. ❤️

I once heard someone explain how we're supposed to feel about ourselves and he said, "You know when you meet someone and you get butterflies in your stomach just thinking about them? Well that's how you're supposed to feel about yourself."

It's so weird to me that as a society, we are taught that someone else will be responsible for those butterflies when really, it's all waiting to be discovered right within ourselves. We just have to look!

I've learnt a lot of new words this year from recording the podcast and going to therapy and discernment is such an important word to be aware of.

It reminds us of the importance of being humble but most importantly, not to think we are better than others.

This coming from someone who talks way too much is ironic but last week's episode was about thinking before we speak and most importantly, thinking before we give our opinion. In a world inundated with too much noise, let's all make an effort to think before we speak. This will not only create more thoughtful conversation, but less arguments.

Whenever I start feeling sorry for myself I stop what I'm doing, and think about this idea.

When we go through hard things, it's when we are building our mental "six pack". The most resilient people understand this. 🧙

Doesn't it feel good to tell everyone else what they are doing wrong? But aren't we also creating a world full of criticism instead of trying to understand people and what they might be going through? Telling people what to do is telling them that they shouldn't trust themselves and that they can't mistakes.

Every day we speak with each other and every word we speak creates the world we live in.

Remember, every time we lash out or judge someone, it's an opportunity to also apologize and admit it wasn't the best way to behave. No one is perfect but it's also really important to take responsibility for our behaviour.

There is something about the words we use in the modern world where it allows us to live our lives without any convictions or commitment to ourselves! If you are going to do something, do it. If you are going to show up, do it fully!

On the eve of the launch of the podcast, this seems quite befitting of the journey we are about to start on.

I now understand that most of us don't realize how hurt we are cause we aren't even aware that we are living a lot of the time.

What I've learned from myself is that if you repress something long enough, it eventually spills out on those who didn't hurt us to begin with. It's nothing to be ashamed of because we all do it but becoming aware of it creates this incredible change where we start taking responsibility for it and most importantly, we learn to finally apologize. ❤️
