Tidying up some old posts and spotted this one. Check the date. I'm feeling a range of emotions reading and reflecting on this.

After we gave up the lease at Joseph St we were living with my family, and I was working sporadically but saving money. Selling everything that was excess to the goals. I was looking for a van, ready to throw myself into my biggest project yet. I wanted an adventure that would bring you lots of authentic live music, candid content featuring the artists, and stories from the road.

I also concluded during this period that I could not keep hedging my bets, [prematurely] advising my few regular ICT clients that my focus would be shifting away from ICT toward production, audio, video, music, events, etc. I was intending to widen my scope considerably.

I had Carsales and Gumtree watchlists full of great value van options giving me decision paralysis. I also had nowhere to park a van to work on it, until we found a home.

Then covid hit.

Then we found a house, but I lost a bunch of production gear to water damage; occurring right as the streaming bubble was blowing up and restrictions were easing slightly.

Then I came to an agreement with a friend to buy his van that was perfect for my needs. I took cash out of super. Then he delayed the transaction several times. Then advised he sold his 'other van', and couldn't sell me that one anymore. Some months later his diff blew up, then his engine blew up, and the van was advertised for scrap value. Good thing it wasn't my diff or engine.

A stressful, drawn-out legal battle ensued over the water damage and other ongoing problems. With an outcome I cannot discuss, that cannot not turn back time, or undo malicious claims that left us homeless.

My health declined. My ability to commit to any kid of work routine has been impacted. I am now ready to pursue projects. And as-always, if I can do it close to home, I can do anything...

The other bubble during covid and beyond was the 'van life' bubble, with a huge number of people seeking to escape cities and restrictions. Everything in the watchlist disappeared or ballooned in price.

I still have enough gear to pursue the dream; minus the van, the fit-out, and a video editing system. One day...

The Cave Live hopes to continue, increase, and improve the production of live music content. The goal I am currently working towards is to get out once a month to film artists performing original music live, and to release new tracks from those sessions every week.

I was recenty approved for a medical pension. I'm good, focused on wellbeing, setting PBs in strength and endurance. Just no good for 9-5, and need to avoid stress. Not looking for sympathy, just managing expectations around my personal resources. I have the gear, time. I dont have energy for a lot of life, but music is special.
My cameras will be fifteen year old this year, and remain relevant, comparable, and a great deal more capable than anything I have demonstrated, so far...

This session was a gear and workflow shakedown after many years away. And after a little investment in lenses during Covid. I had 20-30 mins to setup cams. This is a world apart from the radio-station sessions I'd done lst year as an excuse to dust the gear off and challenge myself to get out.

I'm glad it came out as well as it did, with the passing of Roger McLachlan bestowing additional significance on his last (filmed) gig. Roger not only performed, he remixed the audio that accompanies my video.

I need to replace my editing PC to get more tracks out from this session, and to be ready to edit the next session. If you have the capacity chip in a few bucks, there is a PayPal link in the video descroption. I have 1-2 more tracks from set 1 to be edited -and I havent even looked at the video data from set 2 yet, because I dont have space to copy the files off the memory cards! Its choppy, out of sync playback during editing, and system crashes, that have me pulling my hair out. My workstation died, and I am trying to make-do with a grossly underpowered system for editing.

Hey Cave Dwellers!

I'm making another song available from this session. I have one more song waiting to be made public, then no more until I can replace the editing system. I've had a donation towards that goal! - PayPal link in the description.

The Cave Live doesn't have a marketing department or any kind of marketing budget. We can't pay service providers to put this great music into people's feeds; we cant pay for the fake/'ai' likes that other content creators use to elevate their content in the algorithm.

This content only gets watched if you WAYCH it... only gets shared if YOU share it... only gets liked if YOU like it... Please, lend us a like?

Two pre-release songs can now be accessed via The Cave Live's Patreon. This one requires a minimum support at the "Get On Up!" level, or I set a price of AU$3.50 to watch it, but the fees add a bunch. (I'm just trying all the Patreon features)

If The Cave Live is going to realise an initial goal of undertaking one of these spec projects per month, releasing new songs every week, featuring an original Australian artist, I need to get serious about trying to raise some funds to upgrade the editing system.

I will be publishing some of the tracks that are yet to be released to the public on the Cave's Patreon, so my Cave Dwellers can give it one last proof and give any feedback before it goes public ;)

The first of these has just gone up. (linked). I'll put another up shortly.

I need to review all the Patron settings, keep an eye out for changes. Not sure what levels of support, etc. I previously setup...

This will be made public when any of the existing tracks reaches 100 likes, or I manage to get some more editing done on this underpowered system!

Enjoy Geoff Achison & The Souldiggers Live at Way Out West Roots Music Club in December 2024. This may be the last filmed session to feature Roger McLachlan. Roger also did a fantastic job of remixing the audio to accompany my video.

It has taken me much longer than expected to bring you these edits as I struggle with an underpowered editing system, after my old system died. If I can repalce it, I hope to get out and create some content to feature an original Aussie artist once a month. I have applied for an arts grant, but have low expecvtations. There is a PayPal link in the desctiption if you would like to conrtibute towards more authentic live music content.

I'm stoked with how this track came out, so I have decied to release another song from this gig in parallel. The Cave Live are sure to love this one!

If either of the released songs reaches 100 likes another track will drop. There is 12 songs coming from this session, all remixed by Roger McLachlan who performs on bass. Vale Roger.

, please give this post a moment. I have something to share with my Cave dwellers... and something to ask, to help with the algorithm.

If you're following this page for live music content, lend me your ears, your eyes, and two clicks.... One for a view, one for a LIKE. -even if this isn't your thing; -so I can get to your thing.

And if you can be bothered, positive COMMENTs left on the content also help with the algorithm; and if you have friends that like good music, consider giving it a SHARE.

If you know anyone missing Roger McLachlan's smiling face or incredible musicianship; he kept up a busy gigging schedule, but this may be his final filmed/recordeed performance before sadly passing from pancreatic cancer. Roger remixed the sound you'll hear if you give it a cllick. Vale Roger.

Roger mixed twelve tracks from this gig. I have three tracks ready to publish. Track two will be published when this has 100 likes, which cost nothing! 🙂 Track two is a better edit... you'll want to see #3. I have a few more tracks from Set 1 on the go.
