If the City of Ballarat will match the value of my investment, I will establish a not-for-profit and transfer all of my relevant production assets to that entity; and I will turn my focus to this singular project. (and the incredible multitude of projects it could support)

I would then ask the city to set aside an amount of $250,000, which would be sufficient to establish and support this project through its first year; -if we have NO tenants or profitable operations, projects.

If we have 12 tenants paying around $200/wk for a private room and shared living, shared resources, versatile, assignable work areas, we won't need most of those funds in the first year; in which case I would ask the city to allow us to use any remaining funds for improvements.

This would convert the disused WinTV studio into a residential music and creative campus for 12-15 permanent residents, in addition to the caretaker's residence, with four more rooms supporting short-stays: visiting artists, creatives, collaborators, or like-minded tourists.

I would ask the city to consider subsidizing those short stay rooms when used by a touring artist who is visiting Ballarat to perform; and I would use CAVE resources to promote that artist and gig.

We need more music, art, creativity... give The Cave a chance? :)

The Cave is a privately funded passion project, and the founder is (now) supported by a medical pension.

Approved earlier in the year, the support is intended to enable me to set aside the need to desparaetly search for work and focus on wellness. Finding some time for special interests, passion projects, creating something will benefit my wellbeing.

I've set a goal to get out once a month for a spec project, to shoot an artist performing original music. I expect this would enable me to release new content every week. And I want to get out to feature artists in amazing places...

This cannot start until I replace my video editing system. I'm struggling to finish the current project before I replace the system...

I'm a PC guy, I'll use a PC for everything else; but currently the best option for video editing appears to be an Mac Studio with a 64GB M4 Max for $5,449-$6,349 depending on the storage option (2/4TB). This machine would just be for editing, nothing else. Nice and portable. I tried applying for arts funding, but haven't even seen an anacknowledgement of my application.

I had saved $2,500 towards it, that is now $1500 which will be gone in three months, paying for storage units, while I try to secure a home. I should be living in a caretakers residence, providing resournces, support, services to artists and creatives. But that makes too much sense for this world. lol

I've been pleasantly surprised by donations and I'll be leaving any donated funds in my PayPal until I can cover the total. No expectations, but if you are able to chip in to see more authentic live music content the project could certianly put any help to good use

I'm also open to offers to film/record any artist for cash, but: A. I'm not cheap, and B. I would then need to generate the whole amount to buy the computer within a quartlerly profit and loss for MSH Technology so the cash didn't interfere with my pension, and result in me living off those funds with no new computer...

Anyway, I can only keep putting myself out there and see what happens next :)

The Cave Live hopes to continue, increase, and improve the production of live music content. The goal I am currently working towards is to get out once a month to film artists performing original music live, and to release new tracks from those sessions every week.

I was recenty approved for a medical pension. I'm good, focused on wellbeing, setting PBs in strength and endurance. Just no good for 9-5, and need to avoid stress. Not looking for sympathy, just managing expectations around my personal resources. I have the gear, time. I dont have energy for a lot of life, but music is special.
My cameras will be fifteen year old this year, and remain relevant, comparable, and a great deal more capable than anything I have demonstrated, so far...

This session was a gear and workflow shakedown after many years away. And after a little investment in lenses during Covid. I had 20-30 mins to setup cams. This is a world apart from the radio-station sessions I'd done lst year as an excuse to dust the gear off and challenge myself to get out.

I'm glad it came out as well as it did, with the passing of Roger McLachlan bestowing additional significance on his last (filmed) gig. Roger not only performed, he remixed the audio that accompanies my video.

I need to replace my editing PC to get more tracks out from this session, and to be ready to edit the next session. I have 1-2 more tracks from set 1 to be edited -and I havent even looked at the video data from set 2 yet, because I dont have space to copy the files off the memory cards! Its choppy, out of sync playback during editing, and system crashes, that have me pulling my hair out. My workstation died, and I am trying to make-do with a grossly underpowered system for editing.

Hey Cave Dwellers!

I'm making another song available from this session. I have one more song waiting to be made public, then no more until I can replace the editing system. I've had a donation towards that goal! - PayPal link in the description.

The Cave Live doesn't have a marketing department or any kind of marketing budget. We can't pay service providers to put this great music into people's feeds; we cant pay for the fake/'ai' likes that other content creators use to elevate their content in the algorithm.

This content only gets watched if you WAYCH it... only gets shared if YOU share it... only gets liked if YOU like it... Please, lend us a like?

Two pre-release songs can now be accessed via The Cave Live's Patreon. This one requires a minimum support at the "Get On Up!" level, or I set a price of AU$3.50 to watch it, but the fees add a bunch. (I'm just trying all the Patreon features)

If The Cave Live is going to realise an initial goal of undertaking one of these spec projects per month, releasing new songs every week, featuring an original Australian artist, I need to get serious about trying to raise some funds to upgrade the editing system.

I will be publishing some of the tracks that are yet to be released to the public on the Cave's Patreon, so my Cave Dwellers can give it one last proof and give any feedback before it goes public ;)

The first of these has just gone up. (linked). I'll put another up shortly.

I need to review all the Patron settings, keep an eye out for changes. Not sure what levels of support, etc. I previously setup...

This will be made public when any of the existing tracks reaches 100 likes, or I manage to get some more editing done on this underpowered system!

Enjoy Geoff Achison & The Souldiggers Live at Way Out West Roots Music Club in December 2024. This may be the last filmed session to feature Roger McLachlan. Roger also did a fantastic job of remixing the audio to accompany my video.

It has taken me much longer than expected to bring you these edits as I struggle with an underpowered editing system, after my old system died. If I can repalce it, I hope to get out and create some content to feature an original Aussie artist once a month. I have applied for an arts grant, but have low expecvtations. The Cave Live is open to expressions of interest for an original artist, band, project, collaboration to be the subject of a future production.

Fantastic music is essential; however, I am also looking for artists with a following, that will actively share and promote finished content. Allowing me to focus more effort on content creation; and realise a goal of spending less time on social media.

If you are such an artist wanting to express interest: share this post, mention that you're keen to film authentic live music content, and politely ask your followers to follow The Cave page, like the latest content, and like your post. Ask them to reply "if you make it, I'll share it"

I'm stoked with how this track came out, so I have decied to release another song from this gig in parallel. The Cave Live are sure to love this one!

If either of the released songs reaches 100 likes another track will drop. There is 12 songs coming from this session, all remixed by Roger McLachlan who performs on bass. Vale Roger.

If you know anyone missing Roger McLachlan's smiling face or incredible musicianship; he kept up a busy gigging schedule, but this may be his final filmed/recordeed performance before sadly passing from pancreatic cancer. Roger remixed the sound you'll hear if you give it a cllick. Vale Roger.
