Yesterday during the UEFA conference league final between Crystal Palace and Rayo Vallecano, Augusto Batalla (Rayo Vallecano's goalkeeper) faked an injury to SAVE a fan’s life during the Conference League final. No joke.
Around the 35th minute of the first half, with tensions through the roof inside the Red Bull Arena, the Argentine keeper suddenly noticed something was seriously wrong in the stands.
The match was still going.
The clock wasn’t stopping.
And every second mattered.
So Batalla did something absolutely incredible.
He sat down on the pitch and pretended to be injured just to FORCE the referee to stop the game.
And the moment the ref came over… Batalla instantly jumped back up and started desperately pointing towards the crowd.
A Rayo Vallecano supporter was suffering a cardiac arrest and needed emergency treatment IMMEDIATELY.
Because of Batalla’s quick thinking and unbelievable awareness, the medical team reacted straight away and managed to resuscitate and stabilise the fan before taking him to hospital.
Doctors later confirmed that the SPEED of the response was the key reason the supporter survived.
Although Crystal Palace won the game by a 1-0 margin, what Batalla did last night was bigger than football
