Devastating news out of Cape Canaveral. It is confirmed that the entire crew of the Space Shuttle Challenger have died as a result of the explosion of the shuttle just 73 seconds after launch.

Tragedy has occurred today. Only 73 seconds into the launch and flight of the Space Shuttle Challenger, a failure of some sort has occurred causing an explosion that has disintegrated the shuttle. Recovery attempts of the astronauts and wreckage are underway. We will give updates as soon as they are available.

We are here in Cape Canaveral, Florida for the impending launch of the Space Shuttle Challenger. There is an enormous amount of anticipation to get these astronauts up into space so they can complete their mission. More reports and the live launch soon.

As the crew of the Space Shuttle Challenger prepares to launch tomorrow, there is a sense of anticipation and pride in the air. There have been thousands of hours of work put in by an army of people in order to make this mission a success. NASA should be very proud of the work that they have done, and the feeling around the launch site is that of optimism. We will have live reports for the event tomorrow.
