Inspirational quotes are usually bu****it, but I actually liked this one.

Thinking to the future.

Dreaming.

Planning.

Creating.

These are the things we use our prefrontal cortex for.

And when we use that part of our brain, it draws us out of survival mode and burnout.

It helps us see things in a more positive light.

It lets us see that all is not bad.

It’s not just about positive thinking and Pollyanna bu****it, it’s neuroscience.

Getting out of burnout is about rewiring your brain to not be in survival mode, which is what using your prefrontal cortex does.

When you’re stuck in burnout, your brain’s in constant survival mode. No room for dreaming. No space for planning. Just “get through the day.”

But when you start using your prefrontal cortex on purpose—even just to imagine something better—you shift.

You stop reacting. You start choosing.

That’s the kind of work we do in coaching. It’s not “woo” or toxic positivity.

It’s how you start feeling like you again.

Even if you’re still in the same hospital, same EMR, same call schedule.

Your brain just isn’t in the same place anymore.
