If you grew up watching late-night horror marathons, chances are you remember Village of the Damned… those eerie blonde kids with the glowing eyes that could bend a whole town to their will.
For me I couldn’t tell you what creeped me out most, but ever since - I’m always a little leary of little blonde kids…
Unfair? Yes.
Do I care? Not really, my mind’s still my own (mostly)!

In any case, it’s one of the most iconic “creepy child” films of all time… and it’s the perfect nostalgic companion to this week’s October Spooktacular kick-off episode of That Would Be Rad!

We’re diving into the modern urban legend of children with jet-black eyes who knock on doors after dark, and exploring how stories like Village of the Damned shaped our fears of unsettling, not-quite-human children.

After a week of diving into the wild fringe theory that Garth Brooks might secretly be a serial killer (yep, that happened), recently finishing Philip K. Dick’s “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?”, AND our longtime pal of the show Clay dropping a Nexus 6 reference in the comments…
I figured there’s no better way to cap off midweek than with a VHS viewing of this absolute classic: Blade Runner — 10th Anniversary Edition.

Sometimes the only answer is Harrison Ford, neon rain, and replicants. 🌌📼✨

I love being a Dungeon Master…

It’s the combination of creating something as broad as an entire world -or- as fine tuned and detailed as a single shop keeper + seeing all the crazy decisions that my friends/players will make that will flip it all on its head 🤣.

It’s also creating/building this world by hand. Whether it’s making the tabletop terrain from scratch, or in this instance, sketching out a village map as I prep for the next session.

I can’t tell you much about “Witherhollow” because my players (including Tyler) don’t know anything about it yet - but I have shared this map with them :)
But, I can tell you it’s a lonely winter, if not frozen, village nestled somewhere in between a treacherous mountain range.

What or who will they find there??
I can’t wait for them to find out!

Just finished this absolute classic!

Shoutout to our long-time listener & friend of the show, Clay, for gifting me this gem 🙌 (you officially kicked off my first-ever Philip K. Dick read…wild, I know).

I couldn’t put it down. The differences between the book and Blade Runner blew my mind, and honestly… I kinda loved them both for totally different reasons.

If you’re into sci-fi, questions about humanity, or just want to see where Blade Runner got its DNA - you gotta read this one. Highly recommend.
