During Kai Cenat’s September ‘Mafiathon 3’ streaming event, New Jersey emcee Chris Patrick organically got his own viral moment.
He dropped some heartfelt bars about his late grandmother and the challenges he faced as an independent artist over Kendrick Lamar’s “man at the garden” instrumental. Then the internet began working its magic.
People posted reaction videos of their parents hearing the freestyle. Media outlets ran articles entitled, “Who Is Chris Patrick?” Even Kai Cenat himself said, “Shout out to Chris Patrick…one of my personal favorites.”
A Boogie Wit da Hoodie agreed, shouting Chris out as one of his favorite ‘Mafiathon’ participants too. Coincidentally, Chris said he once sold A Boogie computers when he was working retail in hopes of keeping his emcee aspirations alive.
Veteran rappers showed love too. “Look out for him,” Nas said, during a recent Complex interview. Joe Budden also shouted out his fellow Garden State resident during his podcast, offering, “He smoked that.”
JID, no stranger to Patrick, decided to take him on the road with his new “God Does Love Paradise Tour.” This further solidifies their bond, as Patrick was also an opener on JID and Smino’s ‘Luv is 4 Ever Tour’ in the past.
Swipe to see some of the reactions to Chris Patrick’s freestyle and how it put him on so many people’s respective radars as an artist to look out for.
