“Wherever you are, be all there.” — Jim Elliot
Yes, it’s important to live in the very moment. Yet, once in a while I tend to get caught up in my mind way too much. Overthinking what should be in the future and rethinking what could’ve been in the past, causing me stress and anxiety.
I think I think, but if I watch closely, I notice it’s mostly just worrying and stressing about everything around me, fully focused on the outer world.
I tell myself the same stories over and over about who I am and what will be, even though they are mostly not even true.
That’s why it’s important to go inward once in a while. To just be with myself and my thoughts, only here and now, to fully focus on my inner world.
Is what I’m thinking factually true? Does it help me or bother me? Does it make me productive or hold me back? Do these thoughts make me feel happy or miserable?
Things that have been helping me is giving myself some time: writing down my thoughts, meditate, and create space inside. By doing so new insights and ideas come, and worry and fear go.
Life is too short to spend time sweating the small stuff: worrying, complaining, gossiping, comparing, wishing, and waiting for anything bigger or better.
I’ll start focusing on what’s important and on being more GRATEFUL. I am way more blessed than I think— time to see that!
