17.07.25 Today marks two years since I hit ‘send’ on the first draft of what became HELLOWEEN to my producer Jonathan Sothcott As you can see from the title page, the original working title was Maniac Clown, as the attitude for the film was inspired by my love of Larry Cohen movies, combined with a healthy dose of early John Carpenter. The intention was to create an adrenaline-fueled horror shot inspired by the creepy clown sightings of 2016. Asking the question. What if that was the prelude to something more sinister?
You can also see the first page from my production draft that has all my notes and little thumbnail shot ideas.
The first draft was written in three weeks. And after a frantic nine day shoot and nearly two years of post… Helloween creeps towards release.
It’s been a process to craft this thing, luckily I had my wife and family to keep me sane and remind me to keep pushing, and it was also the first thing she’d ever read of mine and had no notes!
I will be posting more about the making of Helloween as we ramp up to finally unleashing this into the wild.
