Oh my. This is a pet peeve of mine. Red tape and interference rather than collaboration.
I have seen too much red tape, delays and stockpiling donations by agencies seeking control and too little actual help and I have seen too many groups rush in to disaster zones to make a few connections and photo opps so they can rush home and raise a bunch of money. Meanwhile, churches, schools, true first responders, families, friends and community groups are working 24/7 with limited supplies, sometimes no funds, little help and just a few hard working caring and committed volunteers to serve the people in need directly.
Always on a wing and a prayer. Always ready and willing to do whatever it takes.
I graduated from Regent university and have worked directly with Operation Blessing, my husband is a retired truck driver so we support Convoy of Hope. I have worked a lotof disaster response deployments with another Regent alum Doug Stringer who is founder of Somebody Cares, I have deployed to Haiti and worked directly with Acts World Relief, Samaritans Purse.
Also, please don’t forget Joe Hurston with Air Mobile Ministries. He is previously from Brevard County FL and currently delivering water filtering kits and assisting storm victims in Asheville.
i also have a close friend Joshua Hanson him on social media and help if you can. I have known and worked with for over 20 years. He and his family live in Asheville. He has set up a Jesus kitchen to feed and distribute supplies. Find him on Facebook and social media and help however you can please.
These are just a few of many good choices without the Red Tape or warehousing of supplies you will find with Red Cross and other similar agencies.
Pray. Donate. Volunteer. Help is surely needed.
Choose wisely who to support. Do something.
My husband and I expect to do some short trips to help out in Florida and South Ga in the upcoming weeks and will try to make it to Asheville soon after the current school semester is over.
