Sometimes, even as a healer… my nervous system still forgets that I’m safe.
Today, I felt that familiar wave of fight or flight rise up in my chest— that old trauma response that whispers, “You’re in trouble for having boundaries.”
It’s a story my body remembers well. The times I said no and it blew up. The times I held my ground and was painted as the villain. The times I tried to speak from love and was met with punishment instead of understanding.
But here’s the truth:
I’m not that same version of me anymore.
That younger version of me thought holding a boundary meant losing love. The woman I am now knows that holding a boundary is an act of self-respect, not rebellion.
And in moments like this, I feel Hekate’s torch burning beside me— the flicker of her light at the crossroads, reminding me that fear is only a threshold. That every time I say no to what’s misaligned, I’m saying yes to my own wholeness.
Even when my body trembles as I say, “this isn’t for me,” I can feel her presence: calm, unwavering, guiding me back to myself.
Because this time… I didn’t abandon me to keep the peace.
I teach people to do this work for a living— to reclaim their voice, to self-regulate, to stand in sovereignty. But I’m still on that journey too. Healing doesn’t mean we never get triggered again. It means we notice it, name it, and choose differently.
So if you’ve ever shaken while speaking your truth— you’re not weak.
You’re remembering your power.
If your hands tremble when you say no, that’s not fear, that’s freedom moving through your body.
