(From Sarah) Congratulations to John Quintos on his NBC Bay Area feature! I first met John in ‘84(?) when were both driving down opposite sides of the street on our scooters in Crockett (for those of you not in the Bay Area, it’s a little town just over the Carquinez Bridge from Vallejo). We pulled over to meet, because it was not an everyday occurrence that you ran into another mod on a scooter in a tiny little town like that! John would play a major role in our scene (and was a featured Wha-a-am! Scooter Pin-up Boy!), and be great friends and surfing pals with Liz.
We are very excited for this new-ish chapter for John!! If you haven't already been, definitely go support him and Coffee SF at 140 Sutter, in San Francisco!!
This is THE COOLEST and because there’s a Vallejo connection I just had to share!
Last night NBC Bay Area did a story for their AAPI History Month celebration on my old friend, John Quintos, who has opened a coffee shop in downtown San Francisco. John grew up in Vallejo, and when we were opening the bookstore, we talked a lot and he was super supportive. In fact he told me that his first parka he bought as a teenage mod was from Victory around the corner — and here is that very parka in this clip, along with some shots of Vallejo and Mare Island! https://www.nbcbayarea.com/celebrating-aapi-heritage/san-francisco-scooter-fanatic-new-cafe/3874409/?amp=1&fbclid=IwQ0xDSwKcIVxleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHgp8Y2j342p0oFwnezUVAEUrSI_kjqNwzb2MGmskAzlmxcDfUUqw6fVaM8a3_aem_tPeE5hv3q5oiudHVwoWEfQ
