Full video tutorial just posted to YouTube (see comments for link).

In the video, I give a comprehensive walkthrough of current real-time deepfake capabilities, limitations, and even a few detection methods. This is an important behind the scenes look at how easily deepfakes can be created using readily available AI tools.

I also discusses how red teams and security awareness professionals can use or position these tools to help the public understand current threats.
.. oh, and you also get to see me as Taylor Swift, Nicolas Cage, Ryan Reynolds, and more...

A little be of folklore knowledge goes a long way.

“Some knowledge of tradition may reveal that today’s hateful rumor was once applied to one’s own immigrant ancestors.”

Guest column: The pet-eating rumor is just the latest iteration of a legend that has long attached to assorted immigrant groups in the U.S.

Wow! I just noticed that the eBook version of, "FAIK: A Practical Guide to Living in a World of Deepfakes, Disinformation, and AI-Generated Deceptions", was released early.

If you're an eBook person -- time to go sn**ch it up. And, of course, reviews are *extremely* welcome prior to the hardback release (Oct 1). See links in the comments to the book website with pre-order links to all major booksellers.

[NEW BOOK ALERT!!!] Hey all -- I was going to save this announcement for another week or so. But wanted to let you know ASAP since Barnes & Noble has a 25% off promo for preorders (note: must be a B&N premium or reward member). Use promo code PREORDER25.

This book was a ton of fun to research and write. Every chapter opens with a fictional dramatization of how the AI tech covered in the chapter can be misused. The book is divided into three sections:
1: An Overview of Generative AI and Synthetic Media
2: The Emerging Threatscape
3: Protecting Yourself, Your Family, and Your Friends

What I love about this book (in addition to the loving the dramatizations) is that it's written to a non-IT audience. This book is for everyone. It's a survival guide to the digital jungle.

We journey through the "Exploitation Zone," where rapid technological advancements outpace our ability to adapt, creating fertile ground for deception. At its core, FAIK is an empowering exposé weaving together engaging narratives and practical insights all aimed to equip you with the knowledge to recognize and counter advanced tactics with practical media literacy skills and a deep understanding of social engineering.
