Seniors experience a full-circle moment as they walk through the elementary schools they once attended. All five elementary schools held a clap out to celebrate the class of 2025. Elementary students cheered on seniors as they walked through their elementary schools for the last time.

“The senior walk was so cute,” Jiya Sharma (12) said. “Seeing all of the elementary kids really reminded you of where you started out.”

Yearbook editor in chief, Sarika Ramesh (12), sees the 2025 yearbook in person for the first time. This morning, nearly 10,000 pounds of books were delivered to CSHS from the Jostens printing plant in Tennessee. As is tradition, the editor gets to open the first box of books before they are shared with the rest of the yearbook staff and then the school.

“I feel really proud that it looks so good,” Ramesh said. “The colors and the amount of diversity on the pages is amazing. I love how the things we all worked so hard for turned out so good on paper.”

Yearbooks will be distributed Thursday in the senior high SAC from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Students must show ID to pick up their books and less than 100 remain for purchase at the event. Books will not be handed out on the high school campus, so underclassmen make plans to get to the senior high to pick yours up on Thursday.

Carroll Middle School hosts the annual Special Olympics track meet where football, JV cheer, cross country and media team members volunteer. Last Thursday, many Carroll athletes competed in various track and field events. Special Olympics is a global sports organization dedicated to individuals with intellectual disabilities, providing year-round training and competitions for Olympic-style sports. Their mission is to empower participants, foster inclusion and shift public attitudes about people with intellectual disabilities.

“Special Olympics is a really cool organization. We get to meet a lot of the new people here. A lot of people get to experience something that they won’t usually don’t get the opportunity to experience,” Cristan Paredes (10) said. “I’m so thankful for all of the memories I’ve made here today. I got first place in my race and I think everyone should get the chance to be a part of something so amazing like this.”

Students in the four branches of Dragon Media: Yearbook, Newspaper, KDGN, and Sports media, attend the UIL ILPC journalism conference at the University of Texas at Austin. On Saturday, they spent the day in hour long breakout sessions, walking around the UT campus and ending the day with a group dinner. Around five, Dragon Media attended the “Tops in Texas” award ceremony where KDGN Executive Producer, Dylan Spiegelman (12), won first place for video story and prior Photo Editor, Ashley Carcara, won first place under the category “Student Life Spread” for her senior assassin page. The following day, the group attended the ILPC star award ceremony in the Lyndon B. Johnson auditorium where Pragnya Kaginele (12) won second runner up for Newspaper Editor of the year, KDGN won a silver star for their competition show which aired in February, and The Dragon yearbook won a bronze star for the “Big Reputation” book from last school year.

“We received a bronze star last year which was the first one in eight years, so to improve and receive a silver star this year is a great accomplishment to cap off my four years in the media program at Carroll,” Spiegelman said “ I hope that the underclassmen can carry the momentum and do even greater things in future years. It was really cool to have my name next to some really talented people.”
