Joint troops of the Nigerian Army and Police have neutralized three combatants of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed affiliate, Eastern Security Network (ESN) in a clearance operation at Igboro Forest in Abia state. The troops destroyed several hideouts used by members of the groups to perpetrate crimes. The camps were uncovered after credible surveillance revealed that IPOB/ESN were using the forest as a combat training ground for their members and as a base for planning and launching attacks on targeted civilians, security operatives, and government facilities in the state. The troops recovered several weapons and ammunition, including improvised rocket launchers, an AK 47 rifle, locally made rocket launchers, explosive devices, military camouflage uniforms, and assorted charms.
In a similar development that also took place on September 18th, joint troops of 82 Division NA in synergy with the Nigerian Police Force busted an IPOB/ESN hideout at Ezioha Mgbowo in Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu state. The armed fighters were perfecting plans to enforce an illegal sit-at-home order when the vigilant troops swooped on them. The armed fighters opened fire on sighting troops approaching their camp but were defeated in the firefight that followed. Three pump-action guns and ten machetes were recovered from fleeing fighters.
Members of the public are implored to continue to support the Nigerian Army and other security agencies with credible information to enhance the fight against terrorism insurgency and other criminal activities.

👉The Group of Seven industrial powers Saturday amplified its denunciation of China’s rising military and economic security threats, while urging Beijing to press Russia to stop its military aggression and withdraw its troops from Ukraine.

In a communique of the G7 summit in Hiroshima, the group criticized China for its use of “economic coercion,” militarization of the South China Sea and “interference activities” aimed at undermining the safety of diplomats, the integrity of democratic institutions and economic prosperity.

Again, the G7 vowed to “support Ukraine for as long as it takes in the face of Russia’s illegal war of aggression.”

The group, which is made up of the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, France, Italy, Japan and the European Union, said its approaches are not designed to harm China nor thwart its economic progress and development. It called on Beijing to engage with the G7 on climate, debt restructuring of vulnerable countries, global health and macroeconomic stability.

👉 Britain’s King Charles was crowned Saturday in Westminster Abbey, like so many of the country’s monarchs before him. The last coronation was 70 years ago, when Charles’ mother, Elizabeth, was crowned.

The lavish affair featured robed clergy, prayers, majestic music and the high-pitched singing voices of young boys and girls.

The coronation is a weekend-long affair with many activities planned. While it is reported to be a scaled back version of what was originally planned, it is still believed to carry a multi-million-dollar price tag for the British taxpayers.

Charles is the first monarch to pray aloud at his coronation. His prayer said in part: “Grant that I may be a blessing to all thy children, of every faith and belief, that together we may discover the ways of gentleness and be led into the paths of peace.”

Millions of people around the world were able to witness the coronation on television and the internet.
