Griffin's key insights from his travels (mentioned in episode 1). A transcribed version of his journal. A little corny but super genuine advice to go about life.
Be open to as many new things as possible. Whether that’s people experiences or places. You can learn something from anyone, regardless of whether you agree with them or not. Trust the unknown to guide you in the right direction when things seem uncertain. Sometimes the things we are looking for are in places we never want to look.
Take more pictures! 3000 in 2 months is not enough. Don’t be afraid to take pictures of people. Candids are worth more than gold. Capturing raw personality in time is what makes photography so exciting.
Eat Healthy!!! No pesticides, organic only.
January 9th, 2019 The Journey Begins
Made it to London with a whole new bag packed, ready for new adventures.
For this next step on my adventure there are certain things I have learned here that I must remember:
Always give to others before yourself, discover the joy in letting go of what you don’t need.
“om mani Padme Hum”, The Jewel is in the lotus. Everything you seek you already have within. What you think you “need”, most of the time is nothing but a craving. Find joy in simplicity and having only what one needs.
Be mindful of your thoughts and actions in this world. All too often can we slip into our mind’s incessant ramblings and miss out on the present moment passing by right before your eyes. Meditation helps tons.
Breathe in, smile
Breathe out, relax
Present moment
Wonderful moment
Smile often. The power and simplicity of a smile can never be overlooked. Sometimes a smile is all it takes to make somebody’s day.
You can always find refuge and wisdom in the natural world. Spending time with nature is akin with going within yourself, because in a way nature is yourself. You are a strand in a complex web of life that you can always call home and forever be learning from. Listening to your elders doesn’t just include humans. Plants are 500 million years old, it’s time to open your senses to listen to the land. Real meaningful time must be spent within the natural world to kindle and keep the flame of Biogenesis.
Treat hard work (whether that be physical, mental or emotional) with love and perseverance. Like climbing a mountain with Christ’s cross gladly on your back, making it your one and only goal to try your best to get to the top. Your limits are way more than you think, your mind will always try to give up before your body. Don’t forget to enjoy the view!
You will die. As morbid as it sounds, it is the truth. Reminding yourself of this fact will make sure you waste no time in this life. You never know when death will come knocking on your door. So lighten up, do what is meaningful, not expedient, and follow your dreams with vigor and passion
