Today is National Sorry Day - a day that remembers and acknowledges the mistreatment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who were forcibly removed from their families and communities. The Stolen Generations.

This year we took Aunty Ruthie Hagarty’s story and my stage play ‘Is That You, Ruthie?’ back to Murgon and Cherbourg with the support of Oombarra Productions and QPAC.

Take the time to watch this video today, on Sorry Day, and reflect on how we can all play a part in the healing of our people and our nation.

Here it is for those who missed Aunty Ruthie’s story on The Project tonight 🙏🏾

30/03/2025

UPDTE - Date change for our story on - will let you know when it will be on 🙏🏾

The Project came out to my home town of Murgon with myself, Aunty Ruthie and the cast of ‘Is That You Ruthie?’ following our sold out season .

We performed a live read of the play at my old High School, Murgon State High and then visited the Cherbourg Aboriginal Settlement. This is ground zero of where this story of the QLD Dormitory System and the girls and boys who were stolen and trained as domestic servants is based.

As you can imagine it was extremely emotional, especially with Aunty Ruthie there.

Tune is tomorrow night at 6.30pm to hear our story ❤️🖤💛

Peace,

Leah.
