Last Wednesday, 9th July was The Big Note's 101st episode and the 3rd Naidoc Week I have been proud to take a small part in by playing exclusively First Nation's peoples' music in the studios of 3MDR 97.1 FM for the 2 hours the show runs.
NAIDOC Week 2025 marks a great milestone: 50 years of honoring and elevating Indigenous voices, culture, and resilience. The 2025 theme, "The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy," celebrates not only the achievements of the past but the bright future ahead, empowered by the strength of our First Nation young leaders, the vision of our communities, and the legacy of our ancestors.

For the 99th episode of The Big Note we start to explore the evolution of the "D.J. - or "Disk Jockey" (or Digital Jockey as I often am on the show, spinning tracks in the digital realm from my computer rather than in the analogue realm from the turntable). From the coining of the term in the 1930's to modern times... this exploration will be continued in later episodes because, as is often the case, we don't get to cover as much as we wanted to!

For the episode of The Big Note on 3MDR 97.1 FM (& after a late start, oops) I continue with some Australian New Age-ish artists before moving on to the subject of Pop Music! *Please note, TBN proper starts at around 20 minutes into the normal programming, thanks Freo from The Mad Mile Music Club for holding the musical fort! In a strange twist of fate, Tash's show "Out Of Sight" started late today also, so I continue playing music into the first 20 minutes of her allocated time! (It's been the morning for hiccoughs and tech gremlins)
