On a Cameo Parkway distributed Curtis Mayfield owned label comes The Five Stairsteps. A great R&B group harmony with excellent lead by Clarence Burke Jr. This family group had many Windy C releases. Great productions too.

Cameo Theatre/Eastern Parkway/Leow's (Bernie Lowe).
Opened by Weingarten’s Theatres as the Cameo Theatre on Eastern Parkway, Brooklyn on February 8,1924. An additional attraction in the summer months was the 1,500-seat open-air roof garden theater.
In 1925 the Cameo Theatre was taken over by Loew’s and re-named Kameo Theatre. It was equipped with a Robert-Morton 2 manual 4 ranks organ in 1927. Later on, it became the Brandt chain. It was closed in September 1974.
This large Eastern Parkway former theater now houses a church congregation.

In late 1957, Cameo released Billy Scott's "You're the Greatest" written by Kal Mann & Bernie Lowe. It went as high as #73.

Curtis Mayfield may not have recorded on the Cameo Parkways labels, but his association with the labels was his Windy C label distributed nationwide by Cameo Parkway.
Known as the "First Family of Soul", the Five Stairsteps had their first six 45s and first album on Windy C. The lead singer is Clarence Burke Jr. with his siblings on backgrounds. The group had their father, Clarence Sr., helping every step of the way in their career.
This first release was written by the label owner, Curtis Mayfield. The group carved their history here, moving on to Buddah for bigger hits.
