The Dovells was one of the premier artists in the Cameo Parkway stable of stars. Their music is still played & enjoyed. A dance would not be a dance without "You Can't Sit Down” & "The Bristol Stomp".
The Dovells had 13 45rpm Parkway releases. And some had alternate 'B' sides. Also six albums (a few being greatest hits).
When I think of Cameo Parkway, the Dovells are in the mix with Bobby, Chubby, Dee Dee, Orlons & Tymes. Thanks Arnie for sharing this awesome RIAA plaque of the Dovells. Jerry Gross of the Dovells should be thanked too.

Born Marie Antoinette Daly in Southend, Essex. Between the ages of 13 and 15, Antoinette (later known as Toni Daly) recorded half a dozen singles, none of which were hits. But the quality of her recordings has ensured her a lasting popularity with fans of 1960s British girl pop.

She landed her first recording contract, with Decca in 1964 at the age of just 13 while she was still a student at St Bernard’s Convent School in Westcliff-on-Sea.

Her debut single, Jenny Let Him Go, was produced by Charles Blackwell, who worked with a number of gems for girl singers of the period, including French singer Françoise Hardy and Britain’s Samantha Jones.

Antoinette switched to the Piccadilly label for her next single, There He Goes (The Boy I Love), released in September 1964. It was released in the USA on the Parkway label.

The Ivy League was formed in August 1964 by three session singers with an extensive vocal range, John Carter, Ken Lewis and Perry Ford. They were first heard doing background vocals for The Who on their hit single "I Can't Explain" in November 1964.
Their debut single, "What More Do You Want" generated little interest but the second release, "Funny How Love Can Be" made the UK chart's Top 10.
Here, Tossing and Turning, which went to #3 in England, but only charted #83 in the U.S. Their Cameo album was named for this song.

Chubby Checker's records have sold in the mega millions worldwide.
Glad he's recognized in the RnR Hall of Fame. Hopefully Bobby Rydell is next!!!!!!

Not to leave one standing, here's a Teen Records recording by the Ebbtides. Bernie Lowe was a music man who built a small empire of independence and musical ingenuity. He had a stable of stars singing big & popular songs. Cameo & Parkway, at the time, was one of the biggest & best independent American labels.

In the early days of CP co-owner Bernie Lowe, right before the start of Cameo Parkway, had a few labels, Teen and Sound being a couple. This Re-Vels tune on Sound rock 'n' rolls, swinging along'.
