President Trump, First Lady Melania Trump, and Governor Greg Abbott visited Kerrville today to assess the damage from the deadly July 4 floods. They met with survivors, emergency crews, and local officials to discuss next steps in recovery efforts. Federal aid has been activated, including FEMA grants and low-interest loans for affected families. Over 2,000 responders are on the ground helping with rescue and recovery. Governor Abbott also shared plans for improved early warning systems across flood-prone areas. Melania Trump spent time with families and young flood survivors, bringing comfort and support during this difficult time.

San Antonio Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones has appointed Dr. Jenise M. Carroll as her new Chief of Staff, bringing decades of executive leadership and public service experience to City Hall. A proud Texas native and retired U.S. Air Force Colonel, Dr. Carroll has built a distinguished career across military, federal, and international arenas.

Most recently, she served in the Senior Executive Service at the Federal Bureau of Investigation, where she led strategic personnel initiatives and previously served as the agency’s Chief Diversity Officer. Her military career spanned more than 30 years, including command of the 75th Air Base Wing at Hill Air Force Base—one of the largest Air Force bases by population and size. She also led legislative affairs for U.S. Central Command and worked at the U.S. Embassy in Iraq, coordinating defense institution-building efforts.

Mayor Jones praised Dr. Carroll’s breadth of experience and leadership, stating, “Dr. Carroll brings a wealth of executive leadership experience, both in and out of uniform, and I know she will well serve San Antonio as my Chief of Staff.”

Dr. Carroll holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration, a Master’s in National Security Strategy, an MBA, and a bachelor’s in Business Administration. She returns to Texas excited to serve her home state and help move San Antonio forward.
Her appointment reflects a continued push by Mayor Jones to bring fresh perspectives and experienced leaders into city government.
