For many of us 90's kids, Nickelodeon as we knew and loved it began to slip away in the coming of Y2k. Spongebob, for most of us, was the shark jump for the network. The format changed, becoming centered around spongebob and teen com-drams. But, for a brief moment in history, a little known sister station "Nick Gas" - aka "Nick Games And Sports" emerged in 1999, offering a beacon of nostalgia and some OG programming for those of us who were beginning to miss our beloved network (and grow up out of it).
I remember coming across this channel in one of my first apartments. It became the staple on my TV, basically playing around the clock. The segments became etched in my mind, only one day to be apart of the nostalgic blanket that comforts me to look back on.
New years day 2007, it was replaced with "N", which became a parrot of Nickelodeon programming minus the cartoons. So basically 24/7 teen dramas. Yayyyy 😑
While Nick Gas' tenure was small, it left a lasting impression on those of us whom found and relied on it for OG Nick programming.
