And we're back!

This week, Ryan and Steve discuss France-Albert René, an interesting figure who served as the second President of Seychelles from 1977 to 2004, all the while thwarting coups, dealing with "the Reds," and instituting a number of reforms, including universal access to education and healthcare, as well as environmental reforms. These reforms would allow Seychelles to be developed rapidly, to the point that it became the most developed country in Africa on the Human Development Index.

As always, while they discuss this topic, other Steve rambles on incoherently about his neighbor's dog, and other topics. Get in.

And we're back!

Happy Thanksgiving (for those who celebrate)! This week the Troika sit down to tackle Tito; that is, Josip Broz Tito, the communist revolutionary leader of Yugoslavia until his death in 1980.

Ryan is suspicious, as always, of Tito in general, and Steve assures us that he had no hand in Tito's Handmade Vodka, but we're not buying it, nor the vodka for that matter. We also discuss his favorite concert, the Warped Tour, if he had only lived to see it. Enjoy!

In celebration of the Olympic games, the troika sits down this week to discuss some sports that were once in the Olympics, that were eventually phased out for one reason or another. Yes, that includes tug-of-war, which we're huge proponents of bringing back.

This week the Troika sit down for the first part of a series on Operation Mongoose, the Looney Toons-level terrorist operations committed by the CIA and Department of Defense against Cuba and Castro in the 60's. In this first episode, we'll loosely discuss the history of the political situation in Cuba, and why the US was so eager to get involved in their business.
