🍷 46 years ago today, history was made right here in Augusta, Missouri.

On June 20, 1980, Augusta became the first federally recognized American Viticultural Area (AVA) in the United States—earning the designation months before Napa Valley and establishing itself as a pioneer in American wine.

Today, we celebrate 46 years of winemaking heritage, rolling vineyard hills, passionate vintners, and the community that continues to make Augusta Wine Country one of the most unique wine destinations in the nation.

Here's to the region that helped shape American wine history—and to many more years of raising a glass together. 🥂

On June 20, 1980, Augusta, Missouri made history by becoming the nation's first American Viticultural Area (AVA)—earning recognition for the unique climate, soils, and geography that make our region ideal for growing grapes and crafting exceptional wines. (We were even before Napa!)

To celebrate, join us THIS Saturday, June 20th from 1–3 PM at Augusta Winery as we celebrate this historic milestone with a guided tasting journey through all five of Missouri's AVAs!

Along the way, you'll sample 12+ wines from across the state, comparing the flavors, textures, and character created by everything from loess-covered hillsides to rich clay and silt loam soils.

What an incredible Augusta Wine & Jazz Festival weekend! 🎷🍷

From our kickoff party at Mt. Pleasant Estates featuring the Jim Manley Band, to Saturday morning mimosas and Bloody Marys in the park, and live jazz performances throughout Augusta, it was a weekend to remember.

Thank you to everyone who came out, supported local businesses, enjoyed the music, and celebrated with us. We couldn’t do it without you!
