🚨 Help Protect the little guys of Horton Plains!
Each year, many reptiles and amphibians—especially lizards, snakes, and frogs—are runover by vehicles along the B512 public road that runs through Horton Plains National Park. 🦎🐍🐸
📱 You can help by recording roadkill sightings on iNaturalist through the project:
Horton Plains NP: Roadkill Monitoring – https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/horton-plains-np-road-kill-monitoring
✨ Here’s how you can take part:
1. Download the iNaturalist app free for IOS (https://shorturl.at/6pCXQ) & Android (https://shorturl.at/Wxnk7) .
2. Create an account (or sign in if you already have one).
3. Join the iNAturalist project: https://shorturl.at/eUwMc
4. When you visit Horton Plains, take clear photos of any roadkill you encounter or you could upload observations of past visits if content is available.
5. Record your observation offline if there’s no signal — the app will upload once you’re back online.
6. Tag the location, select the correct species (or leave it for ID by the community), and add it to the project: Horton Plains NP: Roadkill Monitoring. The location pin is KEY to identify hotspots!
7. Save & upload. ✅
🎯 Why it matters:
• Helps identify roadkill hotspots 🛣
• Supports future infrastructure like installing wildlife underpasses
• Involves YOU in real citizen science conservation! 🌿
