I took a chance on Mae Velma’s Corned Beef in Milwaukee before a concert I went to last night. I had seen some very mixed reviews online, and when I pulled into the parking lot and only saw one other car, I wasn't sure what to expect. But I'm glad I gave it a try! 🥪

I ordered the corned beef sandwich with brown mustard, Swiss cheese, and toasted bread. There was plenty of meat, it wasn't dry, and the simple flavor was delicious!

At around $15, it's not something I'd get all the time, but if I'm craving corned beef or a Reuben and I see a Mae Velma's, I'd definitely stop again.

I visited around 6 p.m. on a Tuesday, and it was very quiet—only one other to-go order before mine and no one dining inside. Not sure if that's typical, but my sandwich got a thumbs up from me. 👍

🫖✨ Afternoon Tea in Platteville!

At the beginning of the month, Alyssa and I had a fantastic tea adventure at The Parlor at Rountree! Beautiful surroundings, delicious food, friendly owners, and a fun tea concept where you can sample as many teas as you want.

It was absolutely worth the trip to Platteville! 🍰☕️

🎡🍴 We definitely ate our way through the Wisconsin State Fair!

John and I took on the Taste of State Fair: A Foodie Adventure and sampled all 12 Sporkies & Drinkies finalists in one day! 😳 Let’s just say… that was A LOT of food for two people!

Our advice? Bring friends to share with or spread the adventure over more than one day. We were so full by the end that we didn't get to explore as much of the fair as we would have liked or try many of the other foods.

Still, it was a fun foodie adventure—and definitely one we won't forget! 🌭🍔🍦🎡
