Wow, lots of new places to add to our list of restaurants to try for 2026, and sad to see some close that we never got to try.
What are you most excited for? Me, currently the Madison Public Market!

Dane County gained 39 new restaurant and food business concepts in 2025, along with 15 closures and a number of high-profile reopenings, relocations and rebrandings.

Duck wontons on a burger?! 🦆🍔 We had to try the January Burger of the Month at The Frog Pond — and it did not disappoint. Spicy, unique, and seriously delicious.

New month means it’s time to try the Burger of the Month at The Frog Pond.

Spicy Duck Wonton Burger — beef patty, two duck wontons, homemade pickled jalapeños, and sweet chili sauce. (We also added some fried onions to ours)

This one was fantastic. The heat, the savory notes, and the touch of sweetness were perfectly balanced. Highly recommend — definite two thumbs up.

We also tried the new Crab Rangoons. They use a different wrapper than traditional ones, but the filling really makes them shine. The cream cheese–crab mixture was delicious, and we’ll definitely be ordering them again

Also had a hot apple cider with some Fireball on this cold day...mmm. Served in a duck mug to go along with the Spicy Duck Wonton burger.

Back at Mercies Coffee ☕️
📍 1748 Eagan Rd, Madison, WI

I had the chai tea latte, and honestly… it’s the best chai I’ve found around here. Perfectly spiced, smooth, and not overly sweet.
I also went with a soup and grilled cheese, which was exactly what I was craving — warm, comforting, and a great lunch combo. Simple, done really well.
If you’re on the Eastside and looking for a cozy spot with great drinks and solid food, this one keeps delivering.

Alyssa and I visited Calla Lily Tea Room in Aurora, IL for a cozy High Tea experience, and it was such a fun way to slow down and enjoy great food and tea. From the extensive tea menu to the beautiful tower of treats, this visit was all about the experience.
