If you’re at Ponies In The Smokies and see this little Silver Clearcoat metallic 1993 LX coupe as part of the National Parts Depot booth, there’s more than meets the eye with this car. This car started out as a 5.0L LX, but it became a test mule for the upcoming Four-Valve engine, which was destined to debut in the Mustang in 1994, but of course, the modular engine didn’t debut in the Mustang until the 1996 model year. However, the Four-Valve Modular engine debuted sooner under the hood of the 1993 Lincoln Mark VIII and this LX is probably one of the cars that helped pave the way for that introduction. The car has SN95 16-inch GT wheels, GT brakes and what looks like a 1994-1998 8.8 rear end. All the visible part numbers on the car denote a 1996 model year. This car was used to test different operating systems set to debut with the new SN95 Mustang. This is a special car, so if you have a chance, it’s worth a closer look.
