This year, on Saba Saba, we are choosing the path of prayer, not protest.

We have released an official press statement calling on the nation to mark this day with solemnity, silence, and spiritual reflection. We urge religious leaders to take the lead in guiding the nation in prayer, intercession and repentance.

Let the pulpits thunder. Let the mosques echo with cries for justice. Let temples, shrines, and sacred altars speak the pain of the land to heaven.

The youth will not riot. This time, we will kneel in faith, and let God fight for us.

It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we mourn the untimely passing of Comrade Albert Ojwang’, a passionate and courageous voice from the Nyanza region whose commitment to civic discourse and youth empowerment inspired many.

As a youth movement, we stand in solidarity with his family, friends and fellow comrades during this difficult time. We extend our sincere condolences and join the rest of the nation in grieving the loss of one of our own.

We demand a speedy and transparent conclusion to the investigations surrounding his demise and that all responsible parties are brought to book without fear or favor.

We strongly condemn the killing of young people under unclear circumstances, for any reason whatsoever. Every young life matters, and no voice should be silenced unjustly.

Justice for Ojwang’.
