I cried! You won't believe this. As I walked to the venue of the event in Birmingham, I realised I was in the wrong building. I called the organisers and while trying to figure out where I was and how to get to the correct venue, a group of boys passed me and greeted me. Seeing that it was drizzling and I was on my phone, they requested a selfie once we get into the venue to which I agreed saying inshaAllah.
They lead me to they correct venue but as we got close, tge volunteers ushered me in, leaving them to join a long queue of participants. Deep down i knew i promised them a selfie. But it seemed impossible without attracting a large audience.
Fast forward. During my speech i mentioned them and asked if they were there so I could fulfil my promise. The boys were shocked. . I asked them to come up onto the stage to take that selfie. The crowd was ecstatic. We took the above selfie and they left the stage.
After my 45m speech , just before the next item on the agenda, a volunteer whispered something in my ear that gave me goosebumps and almsot filled my eyes with tears.
He said, "One of tge four boys was not Muslim and has been considering Islam, but has decided after what happened that he wants to say the Shahadah with you NOW!
I called him up again and he said his shahadah! TAKBEEEEER
What lesson do you think i learnt from this? And what other lessons can we learn from this?
I'll post the video when I get hold of it. InshaAllah
