Zolowo Residents Urge LTA Boss Massaquoi to Intervene as Orange GSM Network Remains Unstable
Residents of Zolowo Township, Zorzor District, Lofa County have raised serious concerns over poor network connectivity by Orange GSM.
Speaking with the Township Commissioner of Zolowo on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, through a telephone interview, Hon. Papa K. B. Johnson said that since he took over as commissioner, citizens have continued to complain about bad network connectivity at his office.
Johnson noted that Orange GSM constructed a tower in Zolowo Town at the Guzeh Public School campus in 2022 to provide active network connectivity across the township, following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for community development. He said, however, that since the tower project was initiated, the company has not delivered any of the other projects outlined in the MOU.
The commissioner emphasized that residents repeatedly report that the network is unstable for both communication and internet services. He added that after receiving multiple complaints from citizens at his office, he wrote a communication to Orange GSM authorities for redress, but there has been no response regarding the poor network connectivity and the promised social benefits.
Johnson is therefore calling on the Government of Liberia, through the Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA) boss, Clearance Massaquoi, to urgently intervene and ensure Orange GSM moves forward with the MOU and improves network connectivity across the township.
Confirming the network challenges, residents of Zolowo Town, Gayflor Dolbah and Aaron Johnson—who are involved in Mobile Money and Orange Money business services—said they are experiencing serious difficulties due to Orange GSM’s network system, which they describe as embarrassing to their businesses.
They said customers frequently complain that they cannot use their minutes and data, leading some customers to stop buying Orange cards. They called on Orange GSM to work and improve the network system in a timely manner so they can continue providing service to their customers in the area.
