Most SMEs collect data every day without knowing it.

Every sale, every delivery, every customer complaint is data.

But it sits in spreadsheets, WhatsApp threads, and someone's memory.

Start with three questions:
- What happened? (Descriptive analytics)
- Why did it happen? (Diagnostic analytics)
- What should we do next? (Prescriptive analytics)

You do not need a data team. You need a system.

What does your current reporting look like?

We were told our cultures were primitive. We called them home.

54 countries. Thousands of languages. Rhythms that do not translate.
Flavours that do not have English names. Wisdom that was never written
down because it did not need to be.

We do not celebrate Africa because it is perfect.
We celebrate it because it is ours.

The minds. The music. The resilience. The way we hold community
like it is a verb, not a noun.

Happy Africa Day. To every corner of this continent finding its voice.

Which part of African culture makes you proudest?

Every training course showed me clean CSV files with perfect column headers.

Real data in Zimbabwe was an Access database from 2014, an Excel model nobody could explain, and a compliance notebook transcribed manually once a week.

Data readiness is not a prerequisite. It is the first deliverable.

The analysts who succeed in these environments are not the most technically skilled. They are the most adaptable.

What is the messiest data situation you have ever walked into?

Peak season is arriving. Most Morocco hospitality businesses are sitting on data they will never use.

3 things being wasted right now:

1. Guest repeat patterns: you know who came back, not why
2. Channel attribution: Booking.com, Instagram, Google with no link between them
3. Seasonal signals: two years of booking data, no forecast built from it

Peak season rewards the business that reads its data fastest, not the one with the most of it.

Which one of these sounds like your property?

A Zimbabwe industrial equipment company was tracking breakdowns across three spreadsheets, two WhatsApp threads, and someone's memory.

When that person was away, the data stopped moving.

I built a React Native mobile app for field teams and a web dashboard for operations managers. One tap to log a breakdown. Real-time visibility for the operations desk.

Result: 90% of issues resolved without escalation. Reporting downtime down by 20%.

The problem was never a lack of data. It was a lack of flow.

How is your team capturing field data right now?

Most Power BI dashboards do not fail at launch. They fail 90 days in, quietly, when nobody is looking.

5 signs yours is already breaking:

1. No data source documentation
2. Measures built inside visuals, not the model
3. Relationships on text fields, not IDs
4. No row-level security configured
5. No refresh schedule audit

A dashboard that looks good but breaks under pressure is a liability, not a solution.

Which one does your setup have?

People hear 'data analytics consultant' and picture Silicon Valley. I am based in Marrakech, building for Morocco and Zimbabwe.

Both markets have more data than they know what to do with. Neither has enough visibility into it. That is the gap.

Morocco clients move on trust and demonstrated outcomes. Zimbabwe clients move on practicality and local understanding. Both need someone who builds for the environment they are actually in, not an idealised version of it.

What is the biggest misconception people outside your market have about doing business there?

The answer is already in your database. You just need the right query.

5 SQL patterns that answer 80% of real business reporting questions:

1. Window functions: running totals, rankings, period comparisons
2. CTEs: clean, readable multi-step logic without nesting chaos
3. Date spine joins: catch zero-activity gaps your trend charts are hiding
4. HAVING vs WHERE: filter after grouping, not before
5. Self-joins: track changes in status or value over time

Most dashboards fail not because the data is missing, but because nobody asked the right question.

Which of these do you reach for most often?

Morocco's peak tourist season is 6 weeks away. Most businesses heading into it cannot trace which campaign drove their last booking.

If your GA4 is only tracking pageviews, your Meta Pixel has no Conversions API, and your UTMs are inconsistent, your attribution is broken.

You cannot improve what you cannot measure. And you cannot measure what was never set up correctly.

Does your business know which campaign is driving real bookings right now?

More website traffic is not always the answer.

For a Zimbabwe-based manufacturer, the traffic was already growing. The real problem was that nobody could trace which campaign drove it or whether any of it turned into real enquiries.

After rebuilding the analytics setup, 15% increase in website traffic and 50% increase in social engagement over the campaign period.

But the bigger win was simpler: they could finally see what was working.

More ad spend without attribution is just more expensive guesswork.

What does your marketing attribution actually look like right now?
