Munindra Nath Ngatey takes charge as new DC of Dima Hasao

Munindra Nath Ngatey has officially assumed charge as the new District Commissioner of Dima Hasao on 15th of July last. Prior to his arrival at Dima Hasao he served as District Commissioner, Biswanath until his transfer order vide no. ECF. 603404/ 18-A dated 13th July, 2025.
DC Munindra Nath is positive about his new role as DC Dima Hasao and expressed his enthusiasm to work for the development of the people of Dima Hasao.
Former DC, Simanta Kr. Das handed over the charge of the office of District Commissioner, Dima Hasao to join as DC Biswanath as per the government order.

Railway Passengers' Association felicitates the new Area Manager of Railway

Virendra kumar Meena has joined as the new Area Railway Manager (ARM) of Badarpur Railway Sub-Division under the Lumding Division of the N.F Railway. On this occasion, The North-East Railway Passengers' Association met the new Area Railway Manager and discussed regarding various passenger problems and also felicitated the officer. Executive Member Digvijay Sarkar and others were present on behalf of the organisation. Passanger body sought cooperation from the new officer for the overall development of railway passengers. This was informed by a press statement issued by Subhra Jyoti Sarkar, Secretary General of the passanger body and also a nominated member of the DRUCC of the NbF Railway Lumding Division.

NFR waived-off Busy Season Charge for August 2025 to encourage Freight Movements

The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) in line with Ministry of Railways has issued two important policy revisions aimed towards facilitating smoother and more cost-effective freight movements, both of which will benefit the customers and stakeholders of railways within the zone and beyond.

In a major relief for freight customers, it has been decided not to levy the Busy Season Charge (BSC) @15% on goods transported in covered wagons during August 2025. As per the existing dynamic pricing policy, the BSC is applicable throughout the year except for September. However, based on a review by the Competent Authority, this exemption has now been extended to August as well. This proactive measure is expected to ease logistics costs and encourage higher freight loading during the monsoon month. All other instructions related to the levy of BSC remain unchanged.

In another development, the Railway Board has also revised the guidelines for free time allowed at Engine-On-Load (EOL) terminals. A separate provision has been made for BCNHL rakes, under which a free time of 8 hours has been allowed for both loading and unloading operations. For other types of covered rakes, the existing free time of 6 hours continues. This amendment is part of the Rates Master Circular on Demurrage and Wharfage Waiver and will come into effect from 17th July 2025. The extended free time for BCNHL rakes is expected to streamline terminal operations and reduce incidences of demurrage, benefitting both customers and the Railways.

These policy measures reflect NFR’s continued commitment towards fostering a customer-friendly and efficient freight ecosystem. By rationalizing charges and providing operational flexibility, the zone aims to support industries, boost freight movement and enhance overall ease of doing business. NFR always remain dedicated towards implementing such initiatives and invites all stakeholders to leverage these benefits for improved logistics planning and cost optimization.

Virendra is the new ARM of Badarpur Railway

Virendra Kumar Meena of Indian Railway Management Service (Technical) has taken charge as the new Area Railway Manager (ARM) of Badarpur of N F Railway. This is his first job in N F Railway division and he started his innings of service from Badarpur. Earlier, Dr. Akanksha Verma was in this post. He has been transferred to Katihar division.
