…a couple of hangs, nice guy. Intense but chill

My brother Michael has left the stage.

He was thunder and velvet. Mischief wrapped in tenderness. A poet disguised as an outlaw. A father, a son, a brother—etched in contradiction, tempered by love that left its mark.

We’re not mourning a public figure. We’re not mourning a myth — but flesh and blood and ferocious heart. Who stormed through life loud, brilliant, and half on fire. Who leaves us echoes—gruff, brilliant, unrepeatable—half legend, half lullaby.

I’ll miss our inside jokes, the sudden laughter, the sound of him. I’ll miss the boy he was before the legend; I miss my big brother.

Thank you to everyone reaching out with love and memory. In time, we’ll share how we plan to celebrate his life—but for now, we stay close, and let the silence say what words can’t.

One of the most singular voices in American songwriting, Warren Zevon was known for his poetic lyrics, dark wit, and fearless storytelling. With songs that balanced sharp satire and emotional depth, he earned the admiration of peers like Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, and Neil Young — and built a cult following that remains devoted to this day.
A classically trained pianist and lifelong songwriter, Zevon broke through with his 1976 self-titled album and the hit “Werewolves of London,” followed by a string of acclaimed releases. His final album, The Wind, completed while facing a terminal cancer diagnosis, won two Grammys and featured contributions from many of his closest friends and collaborators.
Zevon’s music continues to influence generations of artists who value honesty, edge, and humanity in their work.
